gonna buy a couple of cd's

I'll admit it... I own several Hed Kandi compilations. They are hit and miss.... and I don't like that most of them aren't mixed. They're still fine when you're in the right mood though (something bouncy to pick you up).

I would probably avoid the Hed Kandi night at El Div, if only because I'm afraid it'd be too disco perky for me to handle all night long. Unfortunately, the missus likes that so I will be going to the opening.

As for something new to buy, GU Danny Howells - Miami is a definite must.

The HK CDs make good background music, especially in the summer, and I'm all for unmixed compilations, can be useful, but my one experience of the night at El Divino was not positive, very unimaginative choice of tunes, almost exclusively English crowd... no thank you.

I met three English persons in El Divino, and they was very friendly indeed. Had a lovely chat near the stairs to the bogs with one girl, then another two walked past me outside and one said "I can't beleive how friendly everyone is!" Hmm, funny that... Anyway, all I really remember seeing was absolutely gorgeous Continental looking women, and us with our t-shirts and trainers dancing amongst them. However, where I live if i turned up in a venue dressed down like that, and everyone else was dressed up in designer stuff, youd have to leave from all the staring and unflattering looks, whereas in El Divino I met loads of brilliant people who were all really into club and the music, it was superb :D

Have to agree - Had a spanking night there last year. Great crowd, great atmos and managed to stumble into the vip lounge by mistake into the bargain. Will be sampling again in July :D

jjinit-- looked for the GU afterhours at Tower last Friday and they didn't have it... so I bought Danny Howells GU Miami because it was on sale.

It is SICK... all I have been listening to since. I don't like him too much normally, granted I have not heard too much of his stuff, just seen him live. I love this disc.

It is VEEERRRRYYY progressive for me... I normally don't have the patience, but his artistry is so gorgeous that before you know it, the beat infiltrates. It is so smooth and SENSUAL, with flawless transitions, deep, spooky flavoring, and fabulous funk in some parts. CD 2 is darker than the first...WICKED as you all say.

I have the Afterhours CD as well as Sander Kleinenberg Essential mix on order from Amazon, I will report when I get it. 8)
