Go Liverpool

As a lifelong supporter I'm disappointed that an expansion of the current stadium has not been considered properly.

The Kop Grandstand and Centenary stand are excellent and previously it has only been the proximity of residential properties that have prevented the Anfield Road (away end) and Main Stand (the side with the cameras and subs benches are) from being developed.

At the last game I went to (against Aston Villa) I walked all the way round the ground and both Anfield Road and Lothair Road (behind the main stand) are now virtually derelict.

If a new Main Stand and Anfield Road end were built, taking advantage of this larger footprint, and additional 15,000, or even 20,000 capacity could easily be achieved.


On a separate note, I went out to eat with a guy who is part of the backroom staff at Everton and he was telling me that their plans for a new ground are to build a traditional style football ground with four separate stands and open corners ala the planned Molineaux and Ibrox. :?

The extension question was a real one (although obv not a loft one that would be wierd and wouldn't fit many fans in) :lol:
 
extending anfield was seriously considered say my spies. a design went to riba stage d (if that means anything, architect geek speak for quite detailed pictures) to plug in a metal structure on top that would extend out & up. but that would have to be paid for in total by lfc. where as an entirely new ground has a whole world of new funding streams, council, europe etc due to its potential for regenerating the area.
 
Rumour has it Celtic are to expand Celtic Park another 10/15,000 seats,60,000 isn't big enough for us we are already one of if not the best supported clubs in the world so it makes sense, and when we triumph in the Champions League :oops::lol: we can parade the trophy this summer in Paradise.

I hope so I dont want one of these faceless stadia-by-numbers efforts. Hopefully it will be High vertical stands close to the pitch, to generate an intimidating atmosphere like Goodison has now.

Barça has been extended several times, but it was constructed taking into account that in the future it could be necessary this extension.

I always find this kind of stadiums like toy stadiums :oops:
 
I think it'd be a real shame if Liverpool got rid of Anfield, not that Im a fan. I agree with Grego, I dont think the extra gate is going to make or break the club.

  1. Without Everton, Liverpool FC might never have existed.
  2. In 1892, following a disagreement over rent, part of the Everton club split off to form a second club. Everton FC Athletic Grounds Ltd, the team that stayed behind, were forced by the Football League to change their name to Liverpool.
  3. Liverpool still play on Everton's old ground at Anfield.
  4. Although the surrounding stands bear no relation to the Anfield that Everton occupied, Liverpool still play on the same pitch. It is still in the same location.
  5. Everton won their first championship at Anfield in 1891.
  6. Everton hosted an international at Anfield, such was its reputation at the time.

i was only joking actually.
Id be doing the same as the man in this picture if i supported a team like Dundee Or Dundee Utd.

Anyway it is possible Celtic could win it, if the likes of Liverpool can win it 2 years ago, they weren't given a chance either and were long odds, if Greece can win the European Championships a few years back, who would've ever have given them a chance eh,nothing is impossible in football... think about it.

unlike many kopites/blues, i fully embrace the proud linked heritage of the liverpool clubs and actually think the 6 points you make above add to the history of both clubs and emphasise the close ties, rahter than using it as a form of attack against the other.

altho minor reasons, the above 6 all add to why i believe a move is not necessary. sadly, it is almsot certainly far too late to backtrack on the move.:cry: :cry:
 
oh and believe it or not, id be delighted if Celtic win it. as much as i dont really like either of the old firm, it would take an idiot to wish that a scottish team wouldn't triumph. im not taking the mick out of celtic, im taking the mick out of you my friend :p

I am gutted that everton will move and even more gutted that I know our inept board will mess it up and we'll end up in kirkby , with a new, but rubbish stadium. I suppose that is similar to what LFc fans may feel, at least yours will be close to its existing location.

when i heard about those plans i couldn't believe it, i mean its bad enough we're moving but at least it's only a few yards away.

with us the heart is being ripped out but left dangling by a thread nearby. for you, it's like the heart is being ripped out, tossed up, volleyed and then trampled into the gutter. not much different from wimbledon/MK dons situation.:? :cry: :cry: :roll:
 
no...not the neville chamberlin school of football supporters! imho if the tribalism and blind bigotry goes out of the game its just 22 blokes kicking a ball about, beating the blue scum is more fun than beating middlesbrough & if Tesco FC end up in Elsmere Port more the better! And as for the six points you made...show us your medals!

its all a laugh & we need to 'hate' each other on a certain level but me thinks..its the really weird obsessive & often self righteous ones who need help (specifically the man u fans who work on my floor who refer to the players as 'gary' and 'paul' imagining that they know em!).
