Worst night: Glitterbox @ Space. What a disappointment!

The room: the party only took place in the so-called Terrace room (I don’t get why they keep on calling it a terrace!!!). Huge disco balls but unimpressive projections on the rocky wall behind the dj (they really should invest in some decent screen).

The crowd: mostly tourists, some annoying drunk blokes, Indian bros flaunting giant bottles of Belvedere in the VIP area (I so miss the time when Space had no VIP – greed is slowly killing the original spirit) and a dozen people who made the effort of applying some glitter on their face.

The show: the same 4 go-go dancers were performing the entire night (one single outfit, one single choreography… obviously they hadn’t been briefed about the music).

The music: I arrived around 2am so I could just ‘enjoy’ the last 30 minutes of Todd Terry’s set - an uninspired medley of house classics. TT was looking extremely bored as if he was playing that mix for the 1264th time (which was probably the case). Breakbot’s set was uneven to say the least. A few sparkles but many dull moments and irrelevant tracks as well. The dancefloor was half empty at 4:30. After that, Smokin’ Jo tried to fix things but it was too late. She started with a few effective house tracks but quickly gave up and unexpectedly left the dj booth. She eventually came back and stopped her set at 5:55 (the party was supposed to end at 6:30).

Conclusion: one of the most underwhelming party experiences on the island

was there same night as titus. Arrived around 3.30 left around 4.30.. agree with the review above. I personally didn't enjoy.. I hope it works out as the potential is there and would like to see it do well. Doubt ill be rushing back but will give it another shot :)
 
This is disappointing to hear, I have only heard good things up until now. Has anybody else been and enjoyed it ?

I was at Glitterbox 12th June for opening night and it was fabulous. My husband and I have been visiting Ibiza for almost 20 years now so as you can imagine we've attended loads of different nights and clubs.
Glitterbox is just what Ibiza needed.
The night was glamorous and funky with legendary DJ'S and Dancers including Sink the Pink a fabulous group from London.
Everybody dressed up not a pair of cut off shorts or flip flops in site giving it a feeling of old shcool house/ Disco glamour.
Defected Records and Simon Dunmore have filled a gap and brought real glamorous house music back to Ibiza.
Will definitely be returning to this fabulous night

The cynic in me said this sort of enthusiasm has to be PR work, but it's not is it? (I've checked!)

I have to admit I thought the same, just the way it was written.

Good to read a positive review as I really wanted this night to succeed.
 
I went last Friday and unfortunately it was a disappointment. The music was ok but nothing amazing, the atmosphere wasn't there, and the crowd seemed so young ( am I just getting old??) This was my first visit to Space in 10 years and I was raving to my partner about how great it was, but it was just a let down I am sad to say. As this was our only big night out we cut our losses at 3 am and went to Supermarxte, so Glitterbox could have got better as the night went on, but we weren't prepared to risk it. Supermarxte couldn't be more different but we got free entry somehow and had a fantastic night.
 
I've been press ganged into going to Glitterbox next Friday - I'm not holding out too much for it being a good night. From the mixes I've heard on Soundcloud from this and last year the majority of the music is quite down tempo, obscure 70s disco.
