OK, a few of us are trying to kick the habit for good and the idea is to use this thread each day to report progress (or slip-ups!)

Please keep spam to a minimum

I'll start...

I haven't had anything to smoke since Sunday and I'm finding it eeeeasy at the moment! :P

Next... ;)

I had my last cigarette at approx 8pm last night and have been cigarette free since then :D

I'd have normally had about 5 already today and so far so good :D

Maybe I'll have one just so I can play in the group

8O 8O 8O Don't you dare! Because you've said that I'm changing the rules for you: you can only come to support group if you don't have one

Please blow into this tube... ;)

I'm on my sixth week fag free.

And i always loved smoking since 16, now 30.

I am of the following conclusion, that i'm sure most of you know anyway;

Packing in smoking is quite easy until you have had a drink. Then it's amazing how you mind tries to justify how one tab won't matter.

I didn't want to pack in but felt i should, getting to the age where any damage inflicted isn't so easily shrugged off. Plus i intend to have an active and happy retirement, not one filled with hospital visits and agony.

And i want to reach retirmnet age for a start.

Problem is, everything seems better with tabs.

For example: Meal in a restaurant, pint in a pub, walk, drive, reading sunday newspapers, hangovers, post coital, watching a late night movie.

all above are complimented with fags.

But plus side, I have loads more energy, not withstanding my recent close call, It's not as hard as i'd imagined. Plus i don't feel as rough in general. And if i pack in I probably won't die painfully of smoking related illnesses later in life.

The key is definitely taking it one fag at a time...(insert Will and Grace type joke here)

Well done Bec, remember I lapsed at Zigfried for your birthday in January, that was one week in and i havent had a fag since then.

That was Fri 7th Jan, that was so funny when you just ripped your patch off in Ziegfried  So that means you've been a cigarette free zone since Mon 9th :D

i havent had a cigarette since 12:30pm today. Thats a whole 2 hours, and its going to be another 3-4 hours before I get a cigarette. that will be the longest I've gone without a fag in years. do i get a prize?

December 29th I decided to quit smoking... I'm doing really well.
BUT... lol, there's always a but... when I'm partying hard
I usually end up smoking. I guess it's a good thing that I've been trying to take it easy with the partying.

So I would say I'm down from one pack per day, to... I don't know. a pack every 2 weeks.

Thanks, I knew I could rely on you to remember dates ;)

Smoked nothing (bar the green stuff) since feb 13th.

Good time to give up is after a few days on tha raz when you're throat physically can't take it, or when you've been ill. That way you score your first day or 2 (the hardest in my opinion) for free.

And get on the patches. I told my nurse i need at least 2 full strength a day and she happily handed over 64 quids worth of patches (4 boxes) for the price of a script.

Face the pub head on. Avoiding it only makes it a bigger deal.

Go out with friends who don't smoke.

Clear ashtrays off tables before you sit down.

Get down the gym or go for a run. Everytime you do you remind yourself how birilliantly you've been doing, how you couldn't have acheived that if you'd smoked and you burn off the stress and nervous tension...

O and warn yer missus you might get a bit extra randy

my names chewie and i had been a smoker for 9 years.

not had a ciggie since monday after morillo. and feel great about it.

even to the point im trying today "patchfree".
