Getting rid of Xmas Trees

During a little carry-on following JLC at Fabric a few weeks ago, I thought it was a great idea to buy a huuuuge fat Xmas tree from the shop round the corner from my house: http://public.fotki.com/Barbie28/fabric_-_december_2005/img_0808.html

I was really pleased with Terence the Tree at the time, but now I have no idea how to get rid of him. The Council won't come and collect him - I have to take him to one of their recycling points, but he's too enormous to fit in my flatmate's car...

Anyone got any bright ideas??

I can see this is quite a mammoth 'project' you've taken on here

Can't you plant it in your garden and nurture it so you've got one for next year :?

It's not alive. It's just stuck on to a wooden base. :?

I've just remembered one of my friends is a carpenter (Alun). I'm going to bribe him to come round with a saw and hack Terry to bits.

Last time we had a real tree we chucked it into the garden because we didn't know what to do with it, and by about august it had rotted enough to break into pieces and put in the rubbish

Problem is we're all on the straight and narrow til my bday celebrations at the end of the month so no t________ g_______action til then by which time I fear Terry the Tree may have attacked Gollum and taken over her flat 8O

Did you keep the net it came in? If so just put it back in the net which will close all the branches back up and then it should fit into the car unless you have a tree big enough for the average town

Otherwise turn the tree upside down and starting at the bottom of the tree tie the branches up with string until you end up with the neat bundled tree you bought.

Just seen the picture and it should fit into a car when tied up.

Did you not decorate your tree? (Apart from the inflatable?)

Um, that day is all a bit hazy, but I'm pretty sure we binned the net. Honestly, I can't turn it upside down - I can barely get hold of the trunk because the branches stick out so far.

It did get decorated properly eventually.

Naddyz/Babs, what is a t___________ g_______??

Scoobie, that's what we did with last year's tree (Bernard) and I swore we were getting a nice little one this year.

Do you think the lesson learned is not to buy Christmas trees when we're funked - you ended up Terry the Ginormous Tree this year and the year before Jamie ended up with Rachel the Disabled Tree
