Getting from Ibiza to Palma (Mallorca)

Hi guys.....I am an American coming to Ibiza for the first time this summer with some friends! Was wondering if anyone can tell me if it is possible/easy to get to Palma de Mallorca for just a day trip, or if I need more time....just want to go check it out for an afternoon......
Does anyone recommend seeing Mallorca while we're in Ibiza for 10 days? What about Formentera? Any help with this would be great!

Thanks....

Mike

Yes return flights with Iberia or spanair every hour, flight is about 20 mins and costs about £80 return. or 2 hour ferry journey from old town port, think this is about £50 or £60.

thanks for the response....that seems expensive for a ferry ride over....I don't know how much money that is in Europe....but I imagine that is over 100 U.S.....pretty expensive! Anyone know any ferry rides that are cheaper?

Agent - the Ibiza Spotlight website has all kinds of useful information so it would behoove you to check it out before you post on the forum. We regular visitors (and residents) on the forum are happy to help, but you've got to help yourself first!

Here's the page with the ferry schedule: http://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/transport/ferry_i.htm

As far as I can tell, Iscomar's tariffs start at 36 euros round trip, up to 92 Euros if you want a cabin to sleep in as it's a slow overnight ferry (81 per person for a 2-person cabin). Belearia is more expensive at 50 euros on one boat and 150 on the other. Trasmediterranea will run you 80 euros.

Hey thanks for your help! I'll admit, i'm a bit of an unnecessary topic poster....but I like interacting with and meeting new people.....just a way to get to know the forum a little better! I will definitely check things out more before I post excessively! Take care, and again, thanks for your help!

No problem. You're up late out there in Reno... or rather, home late on a Friday night!

I've gotta admit, it is very cool that you've discovered Ibiza all the way from middle America. I've never run into many of us on the island (though, as you'll see from this forum, there is a decent number of State-siders who make it to the island). I don't know if I'd be an Ibiza regular if I wasn't living abroad.

What about Formentera? Any help with this would be great!

You've got to try going to formentera, the ferry's are every couple of hour from ibiza town/port. It has the most beatifull beaches. I recommend renting a bicycle or moped and just discover it. Las illetas beach is stunning and has some lovey restaurants for a nice beachside lunch while admiring the multi million dollar yachts. Its a must.

Very true... Formentera is a lit easier (and cheaper) as a day trip than Mallorca.

From Moscow to Ibiza is about 5.5 hours, I think... it's usually 4-4.5 to Madrid/Barcelona and then another hour on the connecting flight, if I remember correctly. Not too bad... certainly closer than you are!

If I have already hired a car in Ibiza, are there any of the Formentera ferries that take cars across from Ibiza to Formentera. A lot of boats in the United States transport people and cars, and I was wondering if it was possible to take our rental car from Ibiza to Formentera for a day trip? If not, are bicycles cheap to rent? How much of the island do you think you could see on bicycle in just a day? Thanks for your help!

There is a car ferry, but I think you're better off just renting a moped or bicycle once you get to Formentera. If I remember correctly, a moped cost me twenty-something dollars for the day. There are plenty of bikes too... all available at the harbor.
