Get Diverted’s customary opening party this year brings acid house pioneer A Guy Called Gerald alongside Superfreq’s Mr C. We look forward to bringing you another excellent programme of terrace parties in our 8th year on the Brixton Roof Top!

Our first headliner, A Guy Called Gerald pretty much kick-started UK acid house with his ’88 Hacienda classic ‘Voodoo Ray’ and ‘Pacific State‘ (he was one of the founding members of 808 State) – gatecrashing the charts in the process – and went on to lay down the blueprint for jungle music - and has since continued his role as one of the UK’s most dedicated producers. On top of releases on seminal labels like Perlon, Sender, !K7 and Beatstreet over the past 10 years, GCG released his 9th album ‘Tronic Jazz: The Berlin Sessions’ last year on specialist Berlin label Laboratory Instinct. We welcome one of dance music’s most unassuming heroes to take us way back to a time when US imports were streaming into the underground record stores in Manchester.

Alongside Gerald we are excited to have the return of Mr C to Get Diverted. International DJ, innovative producer, founder of Superfreq, Plink Plonk, End Recordings, The Shamen frontman and co owner of The End, Mr C emerged as a pioneering force in the house music scene in 1987 and has continued to be instrumental in the proliferation of dance music on a global scale. Starting off as an MC in London’s clubs at the age of 16, he then hooked up with Colin Faver and Eddie Richards to become the resident rapper at Camden Palace. This inspired Richard to become a DJ, playing his beloved house and techno at some of London most infamous parties including Fantasy, Release and Harmony alongside holding down a weekly radio show called Future Music on Kiss FM.

In 1995 Richard opened the legendary nightclub The End, with Layo Paskin, he is also the founder and owner of Plink Plonk records and promoter of the hedonistic Superfreq parties which operate globally. He remains very current on the production front with recent releases on Berlin label Get Physical. Now residing in LA, Mr C’s London gigs are now less frequent, which makes his Good Friday appearance even more special.

Radioactive Man completes our trio of headliners playing a live set in the club room. He is a cult DJ that skirts the vanguards of rave culture and as a live act he’s performed in many stand out situations. This includes a residency at Bloc festival, regular sessions at London home from home fabric as well as international festival and club dates – a highlight being at Sonar in front of 8000 international music fans before Jeff Mills and Mad Mike. His resilience to stick with a full hardware set up is guarantees that his trademark warmth and personality envelopes the crowd making the best outlet for his raw machine funk sound.

We also welcome back our resident Samantha Blackburn, having spent last summer in South Africa, alongside Elijah Collins, Russell Wayne, Rob Alldritt and more in the Boudoir!
