My thoughts exactly.

Despite not knowing the man personally, i wouldn't expect he's been looking for sympathy.

I think he knew this outcome a long, long time ago.
 
did you know that his ex wife angie lives in ibiza?

i saw best play for united in their dream team of the 60's. i even went to his club 'slack alice' in manchester.

one of the best stories told about him was after he'd finished playing football and was in the ritz in london with his girlfriend miss world eva ruber steier. he'd just won 30 grand at roulette and had the cash and his girlie on the bed as the night porter came up with some champers he'd ordered. the night porter's words to george were
"george, where did it all go wrong?"
 
There is a famous story about George Best, after he had won one night at a casino and a bellboy found him in his hotel room drinking champagne with Miss World with £25,000 scattered across his bed. The bell boy said, "Tell me George, where did it all go wrong?"
