no gatecrasher at privilege this year.

more rock nights at privi in august, line ups & dates TBC

Colors has been doing pretty poorly itself from what I've both seen and read so far, so it's not any competition.

Wonder if GC couldn't get any DJs?

A predominately trance night on the same night as Colors (which isn't doing all that well you say) of course it's competition.

I think the fact it's straight after ASOT too wouldn't have helped.

Crasher have zero booking power in Ibiza at all, who would they be able to book that the big promoters arent already using? Colours sells very few tickets at all, its all free entry wristbands and when i have been it hasnt exactly been trance, the walk up drunk kids from the west end want to hear house it seems.

To start with it's more electro, then picks up to Trance a little later on. (By that time it was dead, there was barely any crowd).

Tyas wasn't playing 140bpm+ either when I saw him play colors, highest he went was 134.

It wouldn't surprise me that most of the DJs for Cream and ASOT sign exclusivity deals with their nights, meaning GC would never have got the DJs in anyway. Tis a shame.

Interesting.

I thought Colors would be a good night, decent little line up but I guess there's no big names and the ones that are up can't really pull a crowd. It's a shame to see trance pretty much dead on the Island :( and in general everywhere , most of the 'trance' DJ's have started playing electro and there's only a few who remain who play proper trance....GC was never going to happen so close to ASOT who have a fairly strong line-up.

One observation I made at ASOT was it seemed every just turned up for Armin, soon as he finished and Schulz came on (who is a fairly big DJ) the place cleared out maybe 200 people left

I suppose there's Cream which is still pretty decent when PvD is on

I noticed the same to some degree when we did ASOT. Except it was Dash Berlin after Armin. Even with the Dash Berlin project being so well known, alot of people left after Armin.

yes colors promised a lot the start of the season but its been another es paradis flop...i popped in there this tues just gone and it was pretty much empty by 330am peak season too.

Colours may indeed not be working, but do people think it is Colour itself that is failing, or Es Paradis as a whole????

They have had a torrid season. The typical visitors to San Antonio are not willing to pay €25+ to gain entry to a club or pay €10 a drink when they have the West End on their doorstep.

Ironic I think that Sankeys ditched their trance night from last year that did reasonably well last year, and are probably suffering a bit this year because they have 3 or 4 nights that, whilst credible, draw a pretty similar crowd. Somewhere like Sankeys would have been ideal for Colours, and it would also have complimented their line-up.

Seems like a much smaller pool of trance djs to choose from in ibiza than techno... Like 10 big names being passed around all the trance nights... it's a shame - there are a lot of excellent trance djs in the world that don't seem to make it out here at all, always the same faces instead...

I'm hoping Colours will be a bit busier when we go in September with it being Island of Trance week while we are there. I'm gonna go because I get it free with the Driftwood boat party otherwise I probably wouldn't have bothered and just gone with ASOT and Cream. A couple of nights of trance is enough for me these days. I want to go to other nights too while I am there.

I wouldn't say it's dead everywhere. Any nights I go to in the UK are pretty busy, DS in Leeds, Rong in Manchester and OTR in Sheffield have all been busy when I've been recently. Looking forward to Majefa in Manchester next week too :) Unfortunately the days of everyone being into trance though are long gone as a lot of peoples music tastes have moved on

Trance certainly wasnt dead in Cream last night, it looked packed for Emery and PVD! Driftwood is cool, worth checking out if you wanna do a boat while you are here. I liked ASOT too but after Armin everyone left which really killed the party for me. Maybe trance works best now in places like Digital Society where everyone is part of the same family and its like 1000 mates?!

When I say dead I mean music wise really, ok some DJ's do still play trance but i'm finding more and more are playing electro with the odd token real trance tune, obviously there are still the pure trance dj's about John O'Callaghan ,Aly & Fila etc ...

I think in the UK a trance night will draw a crowd of 800-3000 from the whole of the UK where as in Ibiza it's alot harder to draw in a crowd of tourists who may not like trance, I imagine 50% of the ASOT crowd attend because Armin is a big name, as is proved when it's empty once he ends his set!

Cream still seems strong though in all fairness, main room was still quite full when PvD was on even though Calvin Harris was on at the terrace, who has a big comercial pull for the holiday makers

Driftwood Boat Party seems to be doing well aswell, the club the size of Sankeys would be perfect for a more underground trance night

So Es Paradis are giving away free entry again despite claims they wouldnt? And even then they can't get even a small crowd in? That's a surprise

With Eden having acts such as Tulisa, Jessie J, Example etc that is always going to win over your standard West End crowd on a Tuesday.
