New Pacha Ibiza Radio Show
One of the biggest club brands in the world - PACHA - is to create a world first by launching a radio show on the UK’s largest commercial radio youth radio network - GALAXY.
PACHA with resident of the Ibiza club’s main room, SARAH MAIN, will debut on Friday, June 16. Hailing from Sydney, Sarah has been resident at Pacha since 2001 with her signature sound of ’smooth house, rockin’ electro and jackin’ sleazy beats’.
She says: “From the first time I walked into the ‘Pacha experience’ I felt instantly at home. I knew this was the one place I had to spin. I followed that ambition with blind faith and a passion that has led me where I am today.
“Galaxy has long been associated with Pacha since they first went out to Ibiza in 1999. The 2005 launch of their residency moved things forward further still and I’m delighted to be the one now bringing some Balearic bliss Pacha style direct to the UK every week.”
Galaxy Brand Programming Director, Mike Cass added, “Galaxy is associated with some of the top dance music brands in the UK - Hed Kandi & bargrooves - and global talent - Roger Sanchez. The addition of this Pacha radio show to our line up is not only a UK but global first. It’s something for the industry to get excited about and something for radio fans across the UK to enjoy.”
Sarah’s fans include Erick Morillo who voted her as the ‘Best Warm Up DJ’ in DJ Magazine and David Morales who invited her to play at his birthday. She has also been nominated twice at the Ibiza DJ awards- for ‘Best Newcomer’ and ‘Best Ibiza DJ’.
Not only does Sarah’s music epitomize the sound of Pacha, but her look and her personal style also. Both stylish and glamorous (two words heavily associated with the Pacha brand), Sarah has featured in many of the club’s photographic campaigns by revered and long standing Pacha photographer Toni Riera.
She has been on the cover of the Pacha magazine alongside Smokin Jo and Tania Vulcano and - interestingly - the cover of Spanish Playboy 8) . She has also featured - as herself - in clubland’s current cult flick ‘It’s All Gone Pete Tong’ alongside Carl Cox, Paul Van Dyk and many other well known industry faces.
Galaxy is the UK’s largest commercial radio youth radio network with more than 2.5 million listeners tuning in every week. Its specialist output covers all genres of dance music and R’n'B with shows dedicated to funky and soulful house, trance, Hard House, Desi Dance Beats and Hip-Hop. Top talent includes the internationally respected Roger Sanchez and the three-time MOBO Award winner Steve Sutherland. In addition, the top UK record labels Hed Kandi and bargrooves with their infectious blend of house, also host critically acclaimed shows. This summer festival-goers will be able to taste the Galaxy experience at Hi:Fi, O2 Wireless and Creamfields where the network is the official radio partner.
The introduction of the new Pacha show will mean some changes to the Galaxy Weekend and Specialist schedule:
* HED KANDI with its trademark funky and soulful house sets moves to Saturdays 7-9pm.
* PAUL KERSHAW with the best in Trance moves to Saturdays 11pm-1am.
* ‘RELEASE YOURSELF’ with the legendary ROGER SANCHEZ moves to a new weekday slot, 11pm-1am Tuesdays.
The launch of the new Pacha show also pre-empts the Galaxy residency at Pacha this summer. Last year, Galaxy was the first ever UK radio network to secure a residency in Ibiza. This year they’re back. The 15-week residency Ibiza kicks off on June 19 and continues every Monday in the Global Room with DJ’s STEVE SUTHERLAND, 3STYLE & WAYNE C MACDONALD serving up the best of R’n'B and Hip-Hop. Live MCs and dancers will make for the hottest party on the island. Galaxy stablemate ROGER SANCHEZ meanwhile presents his legendary ‘Release Yourself’ parties in the main room.
