This is a Thread for two different things…
a) for people who go to Ibiza with a limited budget (or who just don’t want to spend up to 50€ on a club ticket)
b) for Ibiza-goers that have already seen all the “big” nights and now are seeking for something different…
The below listing is surely incomplete and additions are always welcome…
Free Parties 2007
Bora Bora
Playa d’en Bossa’s beach bar is back since mid-july and swinging in full effect ever since! For a few days now, the DJ is finally playing outside again, where he belongs. The only two differences you’ll notice are that the volume is a tad lower and that nobody is allowed to dance on the tables anymore (which is a pity, but something we’ll survive). Going off from mid-afternoon onwards, until midnight on the outside bit and continues inside afterwards until about 4am. The last few times I’ve been it was always really busy, especially if you go on a Saturday late afternoon, when many people come out from matinée and continue at BB. Same goes for Sunday, where many have their “we love” passout-break at BB. But any day is a fun day at Bora Bora…The residents are Will Johnstohn, Alex Miles, Gordon Edge and Oliver Lang. The fifth guy of the team is Heath Holme who, due to absences of the four other Ressies (playing a lot outside Ibiza), gets to play loads until now – and I love his stuff!

The Pre-Parties in San Antonio
Yes, they still do exist! In Calo d’es Moro, things are a bit quieter than in earlier years with Coastline Café and SunSeaBar only working as Sunset Restaurant / Beach Clubs. But Kanya is still there (after a break of 3 days) and is still doing various Pre-Parties as well as Fergie’s Excentric nights for example.
Kanya thread: http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=43962
Then there’s the Sunset Strip (Ses Variades) with Mambo and their daily Pre-Parties for Pacha
Café Mambo thread: http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=46270
and Savannah, who have refurbed their Back Room and now also having various Parties there!
Savannah thread: http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=46111
And of course, let’s don’t forget about San An’s main beach (Playa d’es Reguero), where you’ll find The Orange Corner http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=46067

The Beach Club
Also at these places, loads of daytime and evening hours stuff is going on!
Bars in San Antonio
Loads! Check out McRackin’s brilliant bar-thread about this: http://www.spotlight-forums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=38
Places spread over the Island…
Blue Marlin in Cala Jondal is always having a good groove. Starting off chilled and sometimes going off bigtime later in the day! Entry’s free…but thinking BM itself would be cheap is a mistake…

Same goes for KM5 on the Ibiza – San José road. No entry fee, cool parties sometimes (Fullmoon and themed nights) and good, but rather pricey drinks.
http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=43741
Sa Trinxa at Playa ses Salines always has a great vibe – really worth giving a try!
Sunset Ashram in Cala Conta is also becoming more and more popular. Having a very relaxed vibe, good (and reasonably priced!) food and great sunsets, they now add good music to all that! Check out their programmation – the music varies between reggae and electronic stuff!
http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=46563
Kumharas in Cala de Bou (or is this still the San An Bay?) offers you great sunsets aswell, tasty fruit juices and cocktails, good food in their restaurants and varied music!
http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=43717
El Ayoun and L’Elephant in San Rafael are also two places, where you don’t pay to get in, but once you’re in, you WILL spend quite some money. Ready for some Jet-set?
El Ayoun: http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=43980

The agroturismo Atzaró somewhere in the campo on the road to san Juan is not that much of a partying spot, but surely one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever seen. They do have some parties though – check this: http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=47217
Guarana in Santa Eulalia is another tip – live music and DJ’s afterwards LINK

In Ibiza town you’ll find LOADS of cool bars with a good groove and either live music (teatro pereyra for example!) or DJ’s spinning their sh*t! Grial, Lo Cura, Noctambula, El Club, you name it…. Find your personal favourite in Mackie’s bar thread again…
http://www.spotlight-forums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=38
And there’s always Hotel Es Vivé south out of Ibiza Town, where they still do some parties every now and then and their bar is also known for being an easy afterhours spot.

Villa fiestas, beach parties, fullmoon sessions
Well, if I’d reveal all the secrets, then it wouldn’t be fun anymore, no? But I can confirm that all these things still DO happen and yes, the authorities often do quite a lot to stop these parties – because they mostly happen without license. Until now, Mulletover (for example) has been doing two parties (one in a villa, the other one at the beautiful Sol d’en Serra) - a third and fourth one is on the menue. http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=44590
The famous afterparty of the cocoon-opening was stopped by the police although, even before it started and since then, it was relatively quiet about cocoon afterhours (not saying there is nothing happening at all though). For all this kind of fiestas, you will have to ask around and keep your eyes and ears open…
To be continued (I surely have forgotten loads of stuff)…
“Alternative” Parties 2007
First off, no I’m not talking about “alternative” music (i.e. Indie, Rock, R’n’B, whatever), I mostly stick to the electronic stuff. I am talking about other options than the Big nights. Have you done all of them and are searching for something else? Here are some personal suggestions…(the parties I am advising have often free or cheap entries with wristbands/flyers – look around!)
Monday
A load of Biggies here. There’s circoloco at DC10, Cocoon at Amnesia and the ever-lasting Roger Sanchez at Pacha. As an alternative option – why not check out Homeclub at Privilege? Musicwise, it’s almost the only not-underground-sounding night at Privilege and it’s always good fun and much busier than you’d think! For a month now (and until the end of the season as it seems), they’re having the wicked “Fura dels Baus” performing in the club. This is a crazy bunch of performers and what they do is funny and sometimes also shocking and scary – be prepared!
Tuesday
Carl Cox rules Space that night, Gatecrasher does it in Eden and Defected is in Pacha. My tip for Tuesday is Amnesia, where you have Armada in the main room (finest trance brought by Armin Van Buuren, Markus Schulz and so on) and now NEW What’s Up with the edgier, techy and minimal underground stuff on the terrace (with Nano Vergel and his mates – Michel de Hey announced as a guest for the opening on august 14, more to be confirmed for the rest of the season). Thumbs up for both of the parties – armada is brilliant and not as packed as cream while what’s up started at Cova Santa this year and moved to amnesia’s terrace.
Wednesday
Erick Morillo at Pacha, the original La Troya at Space and Meganite at Privilege. Personal advise…why not travel to San Carlos and give Las Dalias “Namaste” party a chance? You do like hippies, their markets and Goa trance music? Go for it! Here’s all info about LD: http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=46554
Thursday
Cream at Amnesia and FMIF respectively Renaissance at Pacha as well as Monza at Privilege, these are the biggies. My personal favourite here is Chris Liebing’s Spinclub at Space (on the main terrace)! The music is techy and groovy, the atmosphere is amazing and the crowd is very much up for it! He’s always having some great guests and Chris’ technical skills himself let many other DeskJocks turn pale.
Friday
Manumission (now on Amnesia’s terrace) and Pete Tong’s Pure Pacha rule Friday Nights. OK…since it’s probably already been a few days since you’ve crawled out of DC10, why not pay that strange spot a nighttime-visit if you liked it that much? Tania Vulcano is again holding her Pandemonium parties, bringing friends and guests to a crowd, where surely no-one can say “they’re all here because they want to know what’s the fuss about it”.
Saturday
Umm. Saturday night hosts 3 biggies – Pacha’s DefMix, Amnesias People from Ibiza and Privilege’s Silicon (actually, it’s four biggies – I shouldn’t forget about Hed Kandi at El Divino!). But Saturday DAY is my advise. Well ok, this is not a secret anymore, but the Saturday daytimer Matinée at space is simply one of the best daytime parties I’ve ever been to. Begins at 8am, gets going around 10-11am, peaks at about 4-5pm and lasts till around 7pm…nuff said! …but hey, I was talking about alternatives, right? So, how could I forget about the Zoo project at GalaNight Benimussa? This is really a funny day out! Begins in the afternoon with a chilled poolparty-vibe and gets edgier, darker and dirtier when darkness arrives! http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=45395
Sunday
We Love at Space and Judgement Sundays in Eden are the poles. Both done many times? Well, then head north for example, spend a day in the San Juan / Portinatx / San Miguel region, explore the beautiful area and the beaches and make sure you don’t arrive too late at Benirras for the BeniDrums session…begins mid-afternoon, peaks around sunset and goes on till the last drummer surrenders in an exhausted trancey state!
If you want more than drums though, then give the guys from Slutfunk a chance. They brought a minimal funk to privilege, to be seen on a Sunday night – including slutty dancers. For the rest of the season, artists like Patrick Chadronnet, Martin Landsky, Matthias Tanzmann, Tobi Neumann and Ricardo Villalobos (for the closing night) are on the menue! I am supporting them, because of 3 reasons, first – they are my countrymen, second – they’re really brave to get in competition with the Sunday night giants, third – I’ve been to the party a few times and I always loved it!
