uh... Turkish fans is one thing. True. Bad behaviour all around.

But the account of the incident that I read said that the fight between players began when a Swiss player kicked one of the Turks after the game ended

Huggel expects ban

Switzerland's Benjamin Huggel (pictured) expects to receive a ban for kicking Turkey's assistant coach in the violent aftermath of their World Cup play-off on Wednesday.

The Swiss, 2-0 up from the first leg, reached the World Cup finals in Germany next year on the away goals rule despite Turkey winning the second leg 4-2.

Swiss players were pelted with objects from the crowd and as the players ran for shelter in the tunnel, a fight broke out. One Swiss player later had a catheter fitted in hospital after being kicked in the groin.

Huggel admitted lashing out at Mehmet Ozdilek as he left the pitch.

"I am counting on a ban," Huggel told Germany's Bild newspaper.

However, he said he had only acted because Ozdilek had attempted to trip up one of his Swiss team-mates.

Fifa is now investigatating the brawl.

Bild and Turkish newspaper Vatan published images that appeared to prove Huggel's claim that Ozdilek had put his leg out to trip Valon Behrami.
Was curious so I checked.

It appears a Turkish official started it.... but first contact was made by a Swiss.

The TV clip showing the Swiss player kicking a member of the Turkish coaching staff doesn't show what happened immediately before this incident - namely, one of the Turkish staff tripping the Swiss striker leaving the field.

Also, Turkish news crews had the tapes of the fighting in the tunnel "stolen", so we won't find out who kicked the Swiss player so hard in the nuts that he needed hospital treatment for a perforated urinary tract.

This happens all too often in Turkey and yet we beat ourselves up if the odd plastic water bottle is chucked on the pitch

As noted above, he tried to trip him but failed.

Coach, Benjamin Huggel running at the Tunnel and then come the Turkish Co. Coach with a very strong "Kung Fu" Jump and Kick Benjamin Huggel so strong that it Fall!

Greetz from Swiss...................Ibizarre

If England fans or players behaved as bad as Turkish fans did, they would be banned from competitions, just like before.

I'd like to see Turkey come over to Scotland and try and start their crap!

Get the Dundee United massive on their kebab making arses!

Apparently (according to today's Sun!) Swiss fans have now launched a Kebab boycott to get back at the Turks!

I read that in ths standard last night. it also said that unfortunately 80% of kebab shops in Switzerland are owned by Kurds who all hate the Turkish and generally support the Swiss in any encounter
