fancy disco music with superfly in the global room!
Flower Power presents Superfly in Pacha’s Global Room every Monday night for Summer 2016.
The freespirited Flower Power era in the 60s and into the 70s will forever be an influence to all that followed. The freedom of expression it inspired exploded into a period of intense creative activity in so many different directions over the next decades with a common exhilarating energy that flowed between the scenes of art, fashion and music, no matter how diverse: Underground, dance, rebellious and antiestablishment. From the grit and the glamour, music with feeling emerged.
Away from the mass appeal of huge rock festivals, there was a musical revolution brewing in clubs and basements. Funk and soul came out of the swinging sixties igniting dance floors and propelling us into hysteria of disco that commenced with the opening of the iconic Studio 54.
With the hedonistic disco scene and people getting down on Soul Train, there was a musical phenomenon that brought people together and compelled people to dance.
Superfly is a celebration of the passion and emotion of the dance floor driven music at the core of this vibrant underground scene with an eclectic mix that will have you dusting off your dancing shoes.
Throughout the summer, Superfly will feature international guests and some of the island’s best eclectic DJs such as Mr Doris, Kevin Cutts, Mo’ Funk, Jamie Gittins and Lorcan.
Getting the ball rolling on Monday 30th May will be the funky Afterdark stylings of Mr Doris and the talented Jamie Gittins.
