I am flying out to Ibiza tomorrow from Glasgow, and just wondered if anyone has experienced problems flying out in the last 24hrs from UK airports (e.g. flights cancelled, major delays etc) with the attempted terrorist attack? cheers

Best thing to do is just keep checking airline websites and news sites cos the situation seems to be changing all the time - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4778771.stm

My sis just texted me saying will this mean my flight on Saturday won't be able to get back to England and I'll have to stay on in Ibiza :lol: Every cloud has a silver lining :lol:

Haha, If only i was in her situation, then i wouldn't have a care in the world! I will be so gutted if my flight is cancelled! Been looking forward to this for weeks! I aint heard anything except for delays as far as flights from Glasgow are concerned! Fingers crossed! :)

I'm xing everything for you ;) I always feel so much for people who get delayed going out to Ibiza (coming back you don't give a funk :lol: ), cos it's not like a 'normal' holiday where you just might miss a day on the beach - you're on such a tight schedule in Ibiza that you could end up missing Space or DC10 etc 8O

I'm somewhat relieved that my flight back to Glasgow was yesterday as I didn't really fancy hanging about an airport for several hours (although the extra time in Ibiza would've been nice!)

They are also not allowing people to carry hand-luggage at the moment, apart from a passport in a see-through bag. 8O

I have had my schedule planned for weeks, and will cry if i miss any of it, especially sunday at space!

And the hand luggage thing wont bother me that much but as i am flying alone would ideally have liked to take my i-pod for company, but guess I will just have to annoy the person next to me instead! haha! That is provided everything is OK and my flight ain't cancelled!:?

I would envisage you encountering some form of delay :?

This is whats been issued to us at work for any of our colleagues who may be travelling.

"Colleagues will probably be aware of the news reports this morning about increased security at all UK airports. The attached link to the BBC News gives up-to-date information. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4778615.stm

Heathrow is currently closed to all incoming flights unless currently in the air and our Travel Agent also advise that Heathrow is also closed for outbound flights. Please see the attached link http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4778871.stm?ls

Please be aware that there will be delays and you should check in for flights as early as possible.

The Department for Transport (DFT) have advised that heightened security levels will be imposed on all UK airports today.

ALL PASSENGERS WILL BE UNABLE TO TAKE HAND LUGGAGE INTO THE CABIN WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS:

pocket size wallets and pocket size purses plus contents (for example money, credit cards, identity cards etc (not handbags));

travel documents essential for the journey (for example passports and travel tickets);

prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight (e.g. diabetic kit), except in liquid form unless verified as authentic.

spectacles and sunglasses, without cases. contact lens holders, without bottles of solution.

for those travelling with an infant: baby food, milk (the contents of each bottle must be tasted by the accompanying passenger) and sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight (nappies, wipes, creams and nappy disposal bags).

female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed (e.g. tampons, pads, towels and wipes).

tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs

keys (but no electrical key fobs)

Passengers may take these items through the airport security search point, in a single (ideally transparent) plastic carrier bag. Nothing may be carried in pockets.

This information was issued this morning so I am not sure how current it is. Good luck ;)

thanks for that, dont mind delays really, not if they are taking extra precautions! Just hope it aint cancelled, but the news have said things are a bit better at Glasgow Airport, so with any luck i wont be faced with too many problems! :)

the delayrs arnt affecting scottish airport/s as much as england, only for flights to heathrow are mainly affected. The precautions are still there, so id expect a slight delay though

made it alive, with only about a 40 minute delay! Not too bad, and had a few nutters on my flight that provided the entertainment, as had no i-pod!! only got 4 days left, a week flies by here! Having an awesome time so far! Will give my review when i am back and can function properly!! haha! :)
