City centre living would be murder for us. Too much traffic and temptation to spend spend spend.

I lived in the very center for years (literally two minutes walking to Passeig de Gracia) and now I live in a quiet neighborhood and I still don't know if I prefer living here or there 8O

We'd be out every night - carnage!

££££'s.

Actually, i wouldn't change where we are at. The location is breathtaking 8)

I like living with walking distance to shops, bars, restaurants etc, where we live is nice and residential but in less than 10 mins walk I am at the shops, I wouldn't like to have to drive everywhere esp when I need a Top Shop fix on a Saturday afternoon

That's why we have motorbikes: to arrive to the center in 15 minutes :D ;)

But would I be able to carry all my shopping on a motorbike

You can't imagine what you can carry on a motorbike 8O 8O

Computers, the food shoping for a month, skis, matress (that was two motorbikes, four people and one matress)... The possibilities are endless

I've got image of you biking round Barcelona with half the contents of your flat on your back

Sil I think I should learn how to ride a bike before I think about carrying stuff on it don't you 8O

Urgh - I can't imagine living too far out of zone 1...it would feel like suburbia...

...and Brighton is better than suburbia. 8)

I'm sure he'd appreciate the peace and quiet if we go on a motorbike tour and we're not gassing away to each and he can enjoy his joints in peace with the 52 hardcores

IMPORTANT ROBDER ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

My mortgage advisor is finding it reeeeally difficult to source a high street lender willing to do a mortgage deal on my high rise/ex local authority block. Eeeek.
Other lenders will but it will mean more money every month and I'm not sure if I can stretch.

Please keep everything crossed for me! :-/

i've heard of that before, it's a bugger. Theres a new massive block that was converted from old council offices near me that was supposed to be super swish and really posh. The flats are lovely and decent ones on the upper floors were going for £200,000 plus....now they're sturggling to get £120k for them as hardly any mortgage companies will touch the building 8O  :o

I definately dont want to live in the city when I'm older, I want a nice little cottage out in the sticks with a few horses and a few pigs :D

This might cause problems when me and Jon buy because he's dream home is a flat overlooking the Docklands 8O

Oh nooooo

If you're having problems getting a lender then it's likely other potential buyers are and the vendor is probably aware of this, it's worth seeing if he'll accept lower offer. You might not be first buyer he's had who's had trouble getting mortgage and just be wanting to get rid of it with least amount of hassle.

One another thing to think about tho is, if you're finding it difficult to get a mortgage for it now, if say in 2/5/10/whatever years time you want to sell it, other ppl are likely to have same problem, just something worth thinking about.

Blimey we're such grown-ups these days aren't we  ;)

We are!!! Even Jamie's beginning to shun clubbing for yoga! 8O

You're right on all counts - it's bloody good advice but my hands still feel tied because I love the place and am worried that if I don't put in this offer and have it taken off the market as agreed then a bidding war will start and I'll lose out (I'm at my absolute ceiling figure already). :?

Basically I've done exactly what I promised myself I wouldn't do and got really emotionally involved with a property during the 'looking' phase - and this makes it impossible to be objective.

Still, early days yet - I may still find a high street lender in which case - :D :D :D

((AND - in the inventory section - HALLWAY: Large open entrance with two large storage cupboards!!!   ))

Rodder i may be able to help

My FA in my office might be able to help you ???
