Flat buying & selling

yeah, you can only push so much...then it's outta your hands, too many other parties involved, it's the lack of control that gets me, ie your destiny is in otehr peoples hands and you can do naff all to influence it

I moved into a 2 bed flat 3 years ago and I intend to retire there so I never have to go through all that crap again.

Yay that's what I find the worse thing is, you do everything you can do and then you're just sitting waiting for other people and solicitors seem to take 3x as long to do anything as other ppl  I don't know if it's changed since we bought our last place but our solicitor then wouldn't even deal via e-mail and we'd be waiting for a letter for days for a tiny bit of info which could have been sent in an e-mail

I said exactly the same.

I can't help taking the occasional peek at some of the new city centre apartment blocks going up though, especially the Conran tower 8)

City centre living would be murder for us. Too much traffic and temptation to spend spend spend.

it's not changed much, we were generally playing telephone cat & mouse with the soilcitor & estate agent, I even made the odd call to the vendor to sort stuff out, mind you If i caught up with her now I would strangle the cow as the leak in the bathroom has been there for months according to the builder, altho steps were taken to cover it up....no wonder she let us knock her down £10k

Bloody Estate Agents Hey !!

Mind you you should choose an agent with its own designated sales progressor the one in my office has a very good relationship with the local solicitors and gets things put thru quickly however the sales progress averagly here takes 8 - 16 weeks

One thing you cant speed up is Local Authority Searches !!

I lived in the very center for years (literally two minutes walking to Passeig de Gracia) and now I live in a quiet neighborhood and I still don't know if I prefer living here or there 8O

I like living with walking distance to shops, bars, restaurants etc, where we live is nice and residential but in less than 10 mins walk I am at the shops, I wouldn't like to have to drive everywhere esp when I need a Top Shop fix on a Saturday afternoon
