Fitness First - Cancelling membership

Has anyone cancelled their membership with Fitness First recently? Can I cancel my direct debit straight away? Or do I have to pay for one month in advance? :?
I've written to them to tell them I want to cancel, will this be enough :?:
 
Can't quite remember the terms.

Have a word with Chewie, i think he cancelled sometime earlier this year.

Tell them you're cancelling, write to them too. Cancel your direct debit with your bank as well on the phone and tell your bank never to let Fitness first take another DD from you. Then if they do try to sly anohter payment out of you and it goes through (possible) you've got the recorded tel conversation with your bank which which means they'll pay you straight back. Fitness first or any gym will never chase for payments to end of contract.

just pop in and speak to them. i had to make an "appointment".

they will try and offer you a deferal for a few months "in case you get re-motivated".

:lol:


just say no, fill out a form and sign it, and yr done.

just make sure you do it a week before yr next payment. not a day after like mine as i think they take a months money off u in advance (but u can still use the facilities).
 
Be careful though.

I know someone who ended up with a CCJ from a measly £75 claim against them.

Doubt that would happen in this case though.
 
I was only paying £20 a month anyway, if they wanna chase for that then more fool them! :roll:
Cancelled my DD now so they wont be getting any more money from me :D
