Fishing on the coast in stormy weather

Hody,

can someone please fill me in on why everytime the weather makes the sea a bit rough and choppy about ten or twenty guys flock to the coast (outside my apartment and many other locations in san antonio) to fish? What are they fishing for? I love a bit of fishing but half the fun for me is the sun and relaxation. This has neither although if it was for an interesting catch (giant killer squid, or octoshark or some sort of in between hybrid) i might be interested in giving it a shot

csorry i know its a random question but really puzzles me and its too wet to go out and ask them, they are literally putting thier lives at risk with the giant waves crashing against the rocks

cheers, kev

Going closer to the coast is the last place i would go if i was a fish. But yeh i guess it makes sense, probably getting pushed towards coast in the current. Or perhaps the big waves brings up a lot of debris and food for them, or maybe they think all the madness and air bubbles theres a big party going on. Cheers.
