I know most of you are as interested in basketball as I am in cricket  , but tomorrow are the semifinals, and the final will be this sunday.

Tomorrow at 9,30 (spanish time): USA - Greece
Tomorrow at 12,00 (spanish time): Argentina - Spain

the spanish game will be a final in advance and we have high probabilities to be alive on sunday, but Argentina did a great championship and the game it's going to be brilliant :D

Sil - is La Sexta a subscription / satellite channel ?

When I was last in Ibz it was during the World Cup and I expected the games to be live on TVE1 / TVE2.

Tried these channels (nothing) then looked in El Diario to find they were on a strange new channel I'd never heard of before (La Sexta) - we tried to tune the TV into this but couldn't manage it. Where is it ?

It's not satellite, but I see it through it.
It's a new private channel setted up just before the world cup, by the time it started half of the country should go to the bar to watch the games cos half of the country wasn't able to tune it on tv. That's spain for you

USA! USA!

To be honest, we've been embarassing the last few years. Once the luster of having NBA players on the national team wore off (pretty much right after the Barcelona Olympics) it's all been downhill. That, combined with the rise in the number of internationals in the NBA which has helped boost other countries' teams.

In any case, I hope we can pull it off. Articles I've been reading say LeBron James has been playing really well...

I have to confess that I don't really like the NBA basketball, I prefer the european styleeeeee, much more a team game than the american style, where it's all about individual actions.

Being objective, I think USA will win, second Spain (or Argentina) and third Argentina (or Spain)

I agree, but you should add cycling
Cycling is at least fun to do, even if it's boring to watch!

The other three do fall into the "watching paint dry" category, though at least you can get drunk with your friends at baseball and cricket games... no one really goes to watch the game. More of a social event. Of course, you could just as easily get drunk with your friends in a pub... you just wouldn't have 50,000 people sitting around you.

So, will you see it Ferd? :D

Well the semifinal is on friday at 12 or something, so i'll be working :( Will try to see if i can find an internet channel that streams it. Otherwise www.cadenaser.es will be commentating it live so i'll have my headphones on ;)

If we get to the final on sunday i'll definitely be watching that 8)

I have to disagree with you guys about cycling  , I think the flat stages are boring but the mountain stages are brilliant!!
Oooh the Tour of Spain stage tomorrow passes through my mum's town in Spain, Bembibre (Leon) 8) 8) It finishes with a 1st category climb too. (ive climbed it myself, but needed to get off the bike half way up the hill)

The only sports i find boring are cricket, rugby, darts and snooker.. thats because Spain are rubbish at it ;)

Darts..........rubbish..............are you mad ? 8O 8O ;)

Darts is brilliant. I actually look forward to the darts (after Xmas) almost as much as Xmas itself. How can you not love 'sportsmen that look like this'................

While I'll admit to not watching so many games since I moved abroad, in general, I think the NBA is returning to a focus on the team. It could be the international influence, or the fact that people realized there will never be another Michael Jordan (or Barkley, Ewing, Malone, etc.). The teams that focussed on one player don't do as well - take, for example, Allen Iverson in Philadephia who can score 50 points in a game but the team would still lose :?

If you look at the national team now, with NBA players, you've got everyone participating in the scoring in almost equal parts. Maybe that's why they're returning to form.

Im not an expert in this but arent there also loads of changes between the FIBA rules which the whole world uses, and then the NBA rules, arent there? Trust the yanks to make up their own laws :p ;)

Oooh, 1st semifinal latest score:

Greece 45 - 40 USA.

Its going to be tight, maybe a shock on the cards
