Inspired by the Gordon Ramsey thread................................

What is your favourite restaurant ever (Ibiza related or otherwise) and which would you most like to go to ?

For me........

Favourite ever : Restaurant Sat Bains (Nottingham) - 2 Michelin stars and Heston Blumental style food trickery down a dirt track under a flyover on the outskirts of Nottingham (randomly)

Would love to try : El Buli (Spain) - check out ther website for some of the most amazing looking food ever produced

http://www.elbulli.com/

ate at Hotel de's Clos a few times when i lived in nottm, when sat bains was chef...is that the same place? hearts in nottingham is also good!

"el rincon", "grinch" "Stock" & "Simply heathcotes" in manchester both very nice

"Loco" in Blackheath

"Chapter" 1 in locksbottom

"Foxes" in Chiselhurst

In town

the Wolsey, hakkasan, zuma, oxo tower, la petit maison have all been very nice!

Yes, we tried recently for El Buli - they take bookings for about 2 days in October - get over subscribed 200 X over then gives the tables first to regulars, second via random draw. We failed alas - so the Fat Duck is a very good second & we are going. In terms of fave - I am on a mission now to visit as many quality restaurants as poss. To date, the Ivy for atmosphere - we were there on a sunday afternoon, the place was buzzing & for food, Juniper in Altringham (1 starred).Special reccomendation to Rhubarb in West Didsbury Manchester, by a million miles my overall fave regular restaurant.

El Rincon is brill - I spend lunch there about once a month - always busy at that time despite being hidden away next to ampersand! The Wolsely is supposed to something else innit, never been but heard amazing things.

No 1 favourite is J Sheekys (sister restaurant to The Ivy but better imo), specialises in fish

Also special mention to Nobu - the chef's menu there was pure orgasmic

I really want to eat at Scotts, it's quite difficult to get a table there at a decent time and last time we finally got one we had to cancel.

Id quite like to try one of the Gordon Ramseys as like someone said on the previous thread, they are not too expensive if you have the set thing. But be nice to go somewhere nice for a special occasion.

Asia De Cuba and Fifteen are pretty much on my top billing.

Pasha restaurant wasn't bad when we were there the other week. Cru in Hoxton's very good for a cheapie.

I'm really not a foodie, so though these are probably the best for food, nothing will beat, say, the culliniary experiences of Buddies 24hr diner in Brighton!

Has to be KM5 for me, romantic memories to beat any where in the world :)

Food wise probably longueville manor - Jersey.

To try; many of the nice London ones.

In Europe it has to be Il Buco in Sorrento, a michelen star resturant which would put alot of uk ones to shame, balanced menu, cracking service and its in Italy.......for me the home of good good food wherever you go.

In the UK local ones to me, Bruno's in Cambridge, Midsummer House in Cambridge and The Cock in the village next to where I live (best Sausage and Mash on the planet, fact!) rate as my favourites!

The Kew Grill is very good if you fancy Meat, as is any of the Gaucho Grill in london.

The Glasshouse in Kew had excellent food and was reasonably priced for a Michelin stared restaurant £29.50 for 2 coursed, £35 for 3.

St Petersburgh Dining Club in Liverpool (Russian obviously) bilinis, caviar, big pots of steak in chocolate liek gravy. If it was in the London, the Times would not stop banging on about it - as it is, its our hidden little gem.

Gaucho grill just won best restaurant in Manchester at recent awards. Some said it was a shame to see a chain, however the steak in without doubt the best I have ever had.Do they do the bring the chops out to the table thing like they do in manc?

Robbie G, i concur with you about the Glasshouse and its sister restaurant Chez Bruce on Wandsworth Common. The one meal that always sticks out in my mind is midweek lunch at Juan y Andreas restaurant on Formentera. Great fish and rose in big chunky wooden chairs on white sand. Perf.

Yes they did. They brought out this massive board with all the different cuts of meat we could choose. It is very good meat some of the best I have had.

unique combination of fantastic food and psychedelic 70s interior:
www.tantris.de (munich)

amazing atmosphere, american version of a south-seas-paradise,
almost untouched since the opening in 1956 !
www.maikai.com (ft.lauderdale/florida)

... plus many more - impossible to mention only one ...

my favourite restaurant ever - ibiza related - is a restaurant in a nice cala
with seaview and good fish ... so i have many favourite restaurants @ ibiza,
couldn´t make a commitment to only one place ...

When we went to Marrakech we stayed here: www.casalalla.com
Had the most amazing meal cooked by the owner Richard Neat who is a Michellin starred chef. We had a 7 course degustation meal. The food was fantastic as was the atmosphere & the surroundings. Would definately recommend it but he's moved to Costa Rica!

The most amazing meal I ever had was a five course set lunch at a place called Bruno's in Provence.

After a starter of lobster salad with foie gras and black truffle, the second course was half a boiled potato in a cream sauce.

At the table, Bruno shaved sh!tloads of white truffle onto the top.

I still dream about that dish.

I've tried to book for the last two years and have gotten nowhere. 2008 is already fully booked.

Would like to try the Fat Duck. Not too sure about the snail porridge though.
