Not annoyed Sil, not annoyed ;) The Esperanto comment was based on the fact that I could understand some of it, due to my ok French and very basic Spanish.

Well I believe Esperanto was intended to be similar enough to most European languages that it could be easily understood, or easily learnt, by most Europeans. I could be wrong though. Interestingly enough...

"In 1965, William Shatner starred in the only known full length feature film written entirely in Esperanto, Incubus. The movie Blade: Trinity is set in a generic city which writer/director David Goyer nevertheless wanted to represent as bilingual (as many cities are worldwide), so the second language spoken in this nameless city, and visible on most of its signage, is Esperanto. In the film Gattaca, the intercom messages are in Esperanto."

I totally forgot to mention The Young Ones! Possibly the best comedy moment of all time when Alexei Sayle knocks on the door drunk:
"Can I use your toilet?"
