Can any of you recommend a decent hotel in the Kings Cross area please?? :), or is there any where i should be looking thats a short tube ride away?? Is Covent Garden far?

Were coming to the Cross on April 1st y'see and i was looking at this really nice hotel 'Apex' hotel near London Tower bridge but its 3 miles away :spank:

Thank you in advance :)

Tower Bridge isnt that far from Kings Cross about 15-20 on the Circle line.

Covent Garden is only about 10 mins on the tube from Kings Cross too

Do you want something fancy Mambo or are you happy with one of the chains??

Cos of it's location you get all the standard chains round Kings X - there's Travelodges, Premier Travel Inns, Comfort Inns, Novotels etc. Tbh there isn't that much around Kings X and it's not a particularly nice area that you'd want to go out round there (cept for the clubs but there's no real nice bars/restaurants).

Covent Garden isn't far but is tourist central at a wkend but it's only a few stops on the Picadilly Line.

Have you thought of staying in Islington, that's close to Kings X but nicer things to do in daytime or evening. There's a Jurys Inn there that is nice and is only few mins walk from Angel tube station.

I was looking for something a bit nicer than the chains like Travel Lodge and i did want some nice restaurants and bars. I dont mind Covent Garden being a little crowded on weekends, i love it

I will have a look there and in Islington also.

Thank you

The only thing with staying at Covent Garden is that a lot of the hotels are tourist fleapits, maybe look more round Picadilly just a bit away from Covent Garden (I know there's a nice Meridien (sp??) there).

There's a FAB Hillton in Trafalgar Sq which is only a short walk away from Covent Garden.

Or why dont you try some of the more expensive chains like Thistle, Mariott, Radisson etc.

Actually there are loads of really nice Radisson hotels about London, I think their website is www.radisson.co.uk there's one opposite where I work actually! Prob costs £100 a night I'd say?

I'd recommend staying more central London (i.e Covent Garden, Picadilly, Leic Sq etc) rather than in Kings X, as it's a bit of a hole with nothing round there!

Im looking at Saint Gregories again in Shoreditch area. Stayed here in January last year and it was lovely place with £10 car parking for the night and its right by Liverpool St tube.

I had a look at London Underground online and its saying that i can get the tube from there to Kings Cross in 8 mins with no changes, is this correct??

Sorry, im being really dumb :spank:

I know I am not London People

The Russell Hotel (Bloomsbury area 4*)
or
St Martins (nr Covent Garden) a bit minimalist but quite nice if you want something a bit out of the ordinary8)

Yes, its 4 stops on the circle line. Its only 2 more stops though to tower hill on the same line, where your first hotel is.

Do check the tube website though for engineering works before you book - they have a habit of shutting that entire line at weekends

Mambs if you fancy somewhere near Liverpool Street have a look at the Great Eastern Hotel above the station. We stayed there after Ben's Christmas work party and it was very nice. I would definitely stay there again 8) A black cab to King's Cross (there's a rank right outside the hotel) won't be expensive at all. It's about 10 minutes away ;)

It said yesterday that from Tower Hill tube to Kings Cross i would have to get a tube and then get off and get a bus :?

Is that not right then?

It looks lovely Karen but i was looking for something a little cheaper than £285 a night  ;)

Mambs everywhere in Central London is really near to eachother so where ever you stay you'll only be about 5mins away.

Thanks Becki, i keep forgetting that tube travel is so much better and faster than driving. It took us 2 hours to get out of London 2 weekends ago, totally put me off wanting to live there.

Thanks for your help Google :)

The fact that it may not be running puts me off a little bit, if we went to Saint Gregories again it means we can go to the restaurant over the way and Joey can have curried goat again :?

Thanks everyone, great help :)

you'll be getting on the same line from liverpool street as you would from tower hill, so if its not running you'll have problems either way.

what date is it for? i'll see if I can find out if there is engineering works on that week ;)
