How shit is the music they play in those places?

Apparently the same music is played over a sattelite system to all branches.

Having said that the branch is use Sundays plays much funkier stuff.

My friend has a salon in the N'pton one.....agree music is tosh in the gym but she always has some quality House or Breaks on in her salon when i go there so it's all good  8)

Hmmm, there's a salon in my local branch too - i could have a word with them to change the music over ;)

Its grim in the branch I go to - I thought music was a fantastic motivational tool - I cant see many people forcing out an extra few reps or KM's to "Frankie - The Power of love" !

Best track I've heard in there - David Morales - How would you feel.

Thats what you get for going to a prissy gym
tongue.gif
mind you the David Lloyd that my dad goes to plays ok music

Myself and other have complained but say they can't change it cos the same music is played through all nationwide branches at the same time (via sattelite) but the other branch i use plays much more underground stuff :?:

Does nothing to motivate you at all

Must get that MP3 player sorted.

thats pants, defo get your ear music sorted, the gym we used to go to, used to have a cheesy radio station on, but you could take your own cd in and they'd oplay it for you, they do the same in the gym we go to now, so s'all good :D

Fitness First in Covent Garden is pretty cool! Some of the tunes I've heard there:

Rockin Music
Baby Make a Move (Step across the line)
So Many Times
Love Story

and more!!

Of course you do get the "hard dance" remixes of cheesey pop tunes aswell, but it's the best FF I've been to music wise!

Fitness First's are ok gyms in general, but i only use them cos i don't pay.

They're basically run by accountants.

Most of the instructors in our branches don't look like they've ever even trained

One of the new trainers in our gym came up to me a couple of weeks ago and said "good style on that exercise mate (lat pulldown) but need to keep your had forward a bit more" - WTF 8O

I nearly said "not been funny mate, but have a look in the mirror before you start lecturing me"

  You should have said something

I think i now have enough evidence to present my case that "shit music is NOT played throughout all branches" and "please feel free to play any of these CD's i have gifted to you"

- Thank you people.

I went to a Cannons gym for a couple of years.

The instructors were all pretty toned, knowlegeable individuals but they were constantly hassling you.

Every time you turned round they would be someone lurking around trying to push and pull you into different positions and advise you on routines.

They would be trying to sell you exercise balls etc as well , presumably they were on commission ?

I didn't need that, if I want to know I'll ask.

Having said that they were friendly guys and genuinely interested in what you were up to.

I'm now at Fitness First and the contrast is amazing.

They are a right bunch of fat unfriendly gits !! 8O

They look right through you when you try to make eye contact and just wander about aimlessly or lean against the wall chatting with each other.

Oh yeah , the music is pretty rubbish. I bought a CD player that was GUARANTEED to be jog proof.

No chance - after 10 seconds of ponderous loping the thing packs in and I just have to hum my own tunes and watch the magical internal lightshows in my own head :)

The instructors in "my" fitness first all look the part, and have the credentials to back it up (ex Marine, ex army, Martial arts coaches etc) , they only help when asked to as well which is good!
Drews right about it being run by accountants tho - you can see it in the way things take ages to get replaced, or fixed. Oh and they took ou the free scales and replaced them with ones you need to pay for! I mean 90% of the members are there cos of thee weight - whether to gain or lose it, and they start charging for what is a basic but essential piece of kit!

Instead of humming  get a cheap 512mb MP3. Dont bother with the overrated/overpriced Ipod series, just get a basic one its well worth it. I think mine was 60quid, and its a life saver for cardio! Decent set of headphones that stay in are essential tho!
