FAO any Prince fans

Oh no... please don't tell Irina!

(did I ever tell you about the time we drove around Minneapolis until we found Paisley Park?)

:? :? :? :?
Why does he talk about european tour if he only plays in London? :? :? :?

It says his 'only European dates of the year', it doesn't mention a tour - I guess they're just making the dates sound even more exciting cos he's not going to be playing anywhere else in Europe this year.

I cant view The Sun links at work dammit but hes playing in the UK?!?!!? I love Prince without a doubt!!! Is it new material or the classics though? 8)

Prince will play his first gig at the O2 arena in London on 1 August

US performer Prince is to play 21 concerts in London this summer, his only European dates of the year.
He is to spend a week at the O2 arena - formerly the Millennium Dome - with tickets priced at £31.21, a reference to his album 3121.
He will also play at a number of far smaller venues to make seeing him "affordable for everybody".
The 48-year-old, known for hits such as Kiss and Raspberry Beret, has prepared 150 songs to perform on the tour.
And he hopes to be joined on stage by soul singer Amy Winehouse, having declared himself a big fan.
"I love London," he explained at a press launch. "I've had some of my favourite shows here."
An "extended stay" had been arranged because during his last tour in London - in October 2002 - "a lot of people didn't get to see me".
Prince - who famously changed his name to a squiggle symbol in the 1990s after falling out with his record label - added that he would be house-hunting in the British capital. "As soon as I leave here I'm going to look for a place to live," he told journalists. Tickets for the O2 arena gigs, the first of which will be on 1 August, go on sale on Friday at 0900 BST.

I was being a grumpy lady cos I'm very frustrated he is not playing here

mother of god great spot!! i am having some of this! the man is a legend.

Anyone got his last couple? i like some of it, 3121 is a good track and a few others, but by and large not even close to his 80's stuff. Bit like def leppard but thats another story....

I'm not a fan, really (though I can deal with the really old stuff - 1999 & Purple Rain). Nevertheless, I thought the last 2 albums were quality music, a return to form for the little man, particularly Musicology.

Um................................................no! Not at all.

early def leppard, my muscial achilles heel! :)

a few seminal albums in the early 80's, but now reduced to albums half written by britney spears' production team. rock it aint.:spank:

...however the purple one cannot be compared, that I accept with hindsight. Some of it is just to middle of the road r&b, instead of his earlier stuff which ticked all the boxes (for most people i'm sure).

btw Morbyd your always seemingly perfect punctuation is a credit!

21 london gigs.:? at least that makes sense, i mean britian and europe are such a huge geographic expanse that it would be impossible for him to travel a couple of hours on a plane to anywhere else in western europe.

I can't say I'm exactly his greatest fan ever ever ever, though you can't deny he's a bit of a genuis, and somewhat of a showman.

And now that concerts are the new nightclubs, then, well, why the hell not, eh!?

8) :D

Prince

I think he has great music and puts on a killer concert. I may have 2 pop over and see him. The price of a ticket even at 31.21 is still well worth the money.

Yeah, it's just kind of one of those things that's passed me by.

Don't get me wrong, When Doves Cry is quite possibly the greatest song ever ever ever made in the world of all time, but the rest of it is reasonably anonymous 80's pop to me.

I'm well aware he's one of those 'much smarter musically and artistically than people think' types, but the songs just don't connect with me like they do everyone else.

Anyway, who knows, if I change my mind there's also ebay ;)
