Exorcism?

Did anyone see it on Channel Four last night? It was supposed to be a live exorcism - what a load of twoddle

yeah, watched about 10 mins then switched off, it was gash!!!

It was an absolute pile of crap, but there was some genius programming on BBC2 on Newsnight. The programme before on Channel 4 was about the true exorcism behind the book and film The Exorcist, and at the same time Newsnight on BBC2 was about religious groups in London 'exorcising' evil spirits from children by beating them up. One example was a girl of 7 who had a speech problem, and if the reporters hadn't been there to stop it they'd have beaten her to drive the spirits out.

Me too! Especially when they kept giving that helpline out to any viewers who were "disturbed" by the show - puh-lease

Yeah, but I have a friend (honest) who is a strict practising catholic who would have been totally freaked out by it, mild as it was.

As soon as it started Ben turned it over. I would be up all night unable to sleep at the mere mention never mind the nightmares

I think thats very true. Its a really scary thing for catholics. I was having a conversation with a fellow lapsed catholic the other week. We both thought the Exorcist was the scariest film we had ever seen whereas lots of our friends don't find it scary at all. We thought that although we both abandoned any belief in Catholism a long time ago that perhaps it had left its mark on us with regards to things like that. 8O

I totally agree with you Scoobs! I've never been a practising catholic but that still goes down for me as the most scariest of all films - hence a quick flick of the tv!

Like others I started watching it but soon switched over.

I thought it would've been a bit strange for the Catholic Church to allow a priest do a live exorcism on tv.. after 2 mins I found out it was Reverand from the Ministries of Changing Life or something.. probably became a Minister throught the internet.

Excorcist is still damn scary in my opinion. Funnily enough it was on Sky Movies at the same time last night.. spoooky..
