The value of your investment can go up or down etc etc.

When I last went away (last month), I nearly vomited in the face the beauru de change guy ala little britain when he asked 95 quid for my 110ish euros.

So i think we will be getting some in advance, expecting things to get worse.

Its all quite exciting, I feel like George Soros.

really depends which resort your going to as well.i tell you this.you get a little bit more in es cana/cala longa.than you do in playa/san an...its a gamble at mo.i have some left from last year .when i got it at 150 in beni.but i will be useing my nationwide card later in my hols next week,no charge plus top rates.

Yep, go with woodruffe's suggestion - get a nationwide flex account, put your cash in before you go and withdraw euros for free with no exchange fees and a decent rate on the day. I also have a nationwide visa that I only use for holidays. I use the flex account for cash and never use the credit card for cash withdrawals. Heard Abbey have got a similar credit card deal too.

I agree. Best to put your money on a debit card and withdraw from machines on the island.

Also, don't forget that you can pay in restaurants with your debit or credit card. I try to do that so as to (slightly) reduce the amount of cash required.

I saw somewhere there is a debit card designed around holidays, you can set yourself up a budget before you go of how much you can take out each day, then you can shut it on and off by SMS text messageing, say like if you went into the sea, you can send a txt and it blocks the card, you come back and you can unblock it.
This could be quite handy if like me your a complete looser and don't have any mates to look after your stuff.

best rate in pdb is 120 so if dont have a nationwide card.and useing cash.if better in uk change it there...ok..off for a beer.

getting offered 1.25 from thomas cook cause i booked with them for the last three years finally get something for being loyal :p

i was thinking of doing the same, opening a nationwide account, but last year the cash machines never had any cash when i went. So think im just going to exchange it over there.

How did you get cash then mate if no machine was giving you any? I'm thinking about taking my debit card over this year and worried i wont be able to get money out now

as long as your debit card has cirrus or maestro on it, then it should be sweet to withdraw money from anywhere in europe. with regards to overseas charges youll have to check with your bank if they charge for overeseas withdrawals

forcast

you can search for an exchange rate forcast! The one that i found said that it would be down significantly around september! (which is when I'll be there :D) search around

I usually take a load of euros in cash with me (just split it up into various pockets/bags) and then take a Nationwide debit card and then a credit card for emergencies. The rates taking out from machines with Nationwide has always been really good and I'm sure they'll be cash available there, just keep some spare for emergencies....Nationwide's getting quite a promotion on here!

Hi Woody,
Where in PDB can I use my nationwide card.I am staying at the Don Toni but go to the bowling centre most nights. Thanks

What about taking sterling travellers cheques and changing them over there? Surely the exchange rate over there is better than getting Euro travellers cheques in the UK??
