Es Vive taking the mickey

We've been staying at Es vive for the last three years and loved it! However this year they are really taking the mickey on the price. The real selling point of Es vive is the pool area and 24 hour bar but its not worthy of the 260 euros a night for a triple room that they wanted from us.

The rooms are massively small and I'd rather just go and chill out at BOra Bora and spend the money I'd save their!

Es Vive, I know you occasionally get DJ's staying and Hed kandi pool parties... but surely you can't be serious about your pricing policy this year. Sort it out.

Why is it that when something is successful in Ibiza they think hmmmmm I wonder if we can get even more money out of them... instead of concentrating on the customers that are already pleased and would probably always go back.

Has anyone stayed in Hotel Lux Isla in Ibiza town...If so what is it like? We're staying there in July and although its just a place to put your head down its the pool area etc, location we're worried about

Cheers

I've stayed there 2 times and I can assure you it is very good value (safe deposit in the room, airco, etc.). It is not in Ibiza town but in Talamanca (past Pacha). You will need car to get around though. Ask for a room with a balcony.

That doesn't surprise me one bit. I always thought they would bump the prices right up once they'd had a couple of seasons. You're right, the rooms are tiny and when i stayed there the electricity kept going off every ten minutes - and to top it off you were forbidden food and drink in the rooms for which you paid a lot of money!

You had to keep putting your room key into a point in the wall every ten minutes to get it on. so the air con would keep coming on and off. very frustrating on a sultry morning after a big night

Our key wouldn't work most of the time (to get in the door)

I cringe to think of how much time we spent lying in the corridor (mashed) waiting for the caretaker to sort it.

Thanks for that. You've put my mind at rest.

With regards to Es Vive... That food policy really annoyed us too, I mean if you're paying that much dough to stay there.. its a bit much.

I'm just going to go there for the Hed Kandi pool parties - which were cool and that it!

The hotel has definitely got too big for its boots. If I want to spend a fortune I'll go and stay at pikes.

Its all good though!

On another note - I'mLooking forward to going to Kinki Malinki at El Divino this year

One question then, why are you returning? I know it's trendy, but it seems like a bit of a rip-off and has quite a lot of faults.

What cos of 1 faulty door lock?

And regarding the electric going off. The electric has gone off EVERY time we've been to Ibiza wherever we've stayed.

Why do we stay there?

Again ........

> Walking distance from Ibiza town or Playa d'En Bossa
> No Kids
> Excellent food
> Fantastic 24 hour bar with good music at all times
> Nice pool area

Recommend anywhere better offering all the above?

They do single/double/triple/quadruple rooms so you can mix and match however you please.

P.S. Don't go worrying about the few niggles mentioned on here, you'll have a great time there ;)

What about the walking distance to Ibiza town/PdB?

Or do you have a 'designated driver'?

What about Hotel El Gecko?

Located just behind Space by about 400 metres, no kid policy, 2 pools (1 indoor), free taxi service to all clubs and decent bars, free bbq every night, 36 hour bar with Johnny Vegas and Peter Kay working behind the bar and every room has a 20 ft balcony over looking Playa Den Bossa over to Ibiza Town....... all for only 150 Euros a week each! ;)

I have to second this - private villa is definitely the best way to go imo, especially if you can get quite a few mates together. Last year we stayed in a big 10 bed villa and it was the absolute bollox - superb pool with views to formentera, tennis court, tabletennis, little footy pitch, BBQ. It was on the coast not far from Jesus and there weren't many neighbours about so the music was pumping day and night

This year there are less of us but we've managed to find a three bed hillside villa on the west coast with sunset views, pool etc.

It's well worth looking into - I won't be going back to hotels now apart from the odd day at either end of the villa week to extend the holiday. As for the walking distance thing, it's a non-issue for us, there's usually someone up for driving or else we just get cabs. Anyway, it's so nice to be in the middle of nowhere during the more 'restful' periods of the holiday - there's nothing like the stillness of the night after sunset, a few drinks and a smoke with your friends by the pool....ahhhhhh! :D

Each to their own of course, but do the maths:

Our 3 bed villa with all it offers is 2,650 euros for 7 nights in mid-august. 3 double rooms in Es Vive is 3,150 for 7 nights, or 3,927 with sea views. So not only is it cheaper, but I think it's more fun in your own place - you can do whatever you like (picture the scenes of poolside indulgence), invite anyone you like back and even bring extra mates over from home at the drop of the hat - there's always a sunlounger or sofa to kip on once the rooms are full.

All of the above are good reasons to stay at a hotel but not the prices Es Vive are trying to charge thisn year.

The best thing to do is stay somewhere else.. then come to Es vive for lunch - (The food is excellent) and then spend the rest of the day by the pool. A few of mates did this last year when we stayed there.

Reult: All the benefits of Es vive but you don't have to pay the ridiculous prices to stay in their rubbish rooms.

Saying that the buggers will probably read thios thread and change their rules - wouldn't surprise me. :x
