Es Paradis

Eden had toolroom the other year. Subliminal, for example, hasnt got a night on the island. Bout 5 years ago mondo loco was in eden n it was very good. Its a shame coz eden is a fantastic club and sound system is excellent. Been a few years since ive been in es paradis so dont know wot its like. Them having no hed kandi is a big blow because it was a quality night

Was at Es Paradis for Hed Kandi last year and whilst not overly busy the night and music was spot on. Previous year was at Clockwork and that's up there with my best night on the island and I got married in Ibiza. Why is Hed Kandi no longer at Es Paradis? How is Garlands doing? Went to this night at Eden a few years back and was well attended albeit mainly with Liverpudlians. Was banking on Retro staying there but I guess with the limited northern crowd it pulls back home it was always going to struggle.

well yeah, hed kandi was the best performing night at es paradis for many years, including in its last year (2015), but since about 2013 it had constantly been going downhill. not massively year on year, but by the end of 2015 they just had to take a decision. they were running two events, one at a venue that was going better every year (ocean beach) and another one that just had had its time and it didn't look as if it was ever going to pick up again...simple.

Do you think Es Paradis is just old and tired? It is certainly an eye-sore from the outside.

I keep wondering if it's just cos it's on San Ans door step that it makes it a bit unattractive?

I think like Privilege it needs a MAJOR refurb to give the club something new and exciting. Something for people to talk about.

Obviously without the Pesetas that isn't going to happen!!

privilege needs to invest heavily; first in hardware (club refurb) and afterwards in software (line ups - they need some of ushuaïa's big EDM names) to properly get back into the game. but yeah, it's difficult with the current competition and ushuaïa now taking over space won't make it any easier I think.

es paradis is as beautiful as ever, but they need to find the right angle. the club isn't built for anything underground so they can only do housey stuff and classics really (at least IMHO). to me, even trance doesn't really 'fit' in there, but yeah, horses for courses. in a few years, when 'tropical house' is really big and EDM will slowly disappear, they need to invest in software and get someone like oliver heldens or kygo (not exactly them, but that sound line). it would sell out.

eden has a superb hardware now. honestly, it's one of the most up-to-date clubs right now in terms of how the clubs looks and sounds like. I personally am still surprised defected haven't gone there, it's the perfect place for them. also other labels like abode etc would fit and would definitely work there. again it's the case of having ONE night that really really works and then makes all other negotiations easier.

Have any of the nights at Eden or Es Paradis worked this season? Sound garden was the only night I would have been interested in and that got dropped. Come to think of it so did Retro.

Though i'm very aware there are more of them than there are of me!!

I'm not sure how Es Paradis is perceived through the younger mind? I think the clubs in Ibiza are lucky in the sense that they can fall out of fashion but then very quickly jump back in. Eden seems to struggle a bit more than others though for some reason.

Last event I can remember people speaking about that was at Eden was Pete Tongs night. Which was nearly 10 years ago!

I was at wonderland in 2009. Was good night as well. I think them dropping judgement the other year was a big thing. It goin to es paradis was terrible for it coz i dont think a trance night is suited to es paradis coz of how bright it is. If at least 1 of their nights was a sell out it would give money to compete for other nights

My first club night was Eden back in July 2011, Judgement Sundays some brilliant line ups proper trance. Shame how its all fell apart now

People would say that about Judgement Sunday of the early 00's. They were rammed but it was when Jules was on radio 1.

Maybe that is the answer - the San An clubs needs line ups that the San An crowd knows. Prob why Ibiza Rocks works so well. Fill them with Radio 1 and Kiss Djs

I remember when M.A.N.D.Y came to play for a Monza pre-party at Itaca, I was a PR at the time and everyone was like Who??? The place was empty. I thought they were gods :) good times.

I recall Wonderland and what I remember it was well attended. Zane Lowe played the smaller room in Eden coinciding with his popularity on Radio 1. Going back to 2012 the missus was on a hen doo and went to Jessie J live in Eden. She can't remember the name of the night but tells me it was busy. As pointed out the San An clubs appear to thrive with more of a commercial UK based act. On a separate note has anyone been to Mansion on a Monday at Eden? According to their twitter page it's been busy and the Music does appeal to me.

Right, just back from ibiza. The Mrs had been banging on about going es paradis as she's never been in there in 7 times weve visited the island nor me for that matter so we decided to give it a go.
Had started the night with a few drinks at itacas upstairs, quite empty, ramned downstairs but they were playing some decent tunes upstairs so stayed up top by the window overlooking the beach.
The night at es paradis was the fiesta water party so was abit confused as to what the music genre would be.
Headed over to plastik about 12, had 2 drinks in there, same again, some good tunes being played then about quarter to 1 headed to the club. Walked in and was quite amazed at what a beautiful looking club it really was. The music being played was house all night which I never expected, drinks were reasonably priced at 14 euros for long glasses, so they should be as there was no more than a few hundred people in there all night.
About 3 o'clock in the morning the dancefloor started filling up with water which I thought was impressive.
I just find it hard to believe how such a beautiful club like that can struggle to get decent numbers in? My Mrs thinks it's more impressive inside than both pacha and amnesia. Proper shame if it had to shut down.

been saying it's one of the most beautiful venues on the island for years...

why they can't get decent numbers? same as with privilege they're sort of in a static evolution or almost downards spiral. with all the competition and the fact that for the nightlife, currently pdb/ibiza town has taken all the focus, it's hard for them to get decent artists which then actually pull in punters.

see what happens, san antonio might get more attractive again in the future. I'm hoping for it. both eden and es paradis are great clubs and it's a shame to see they're just not doing that great.

Yeh, me and the Mrs was saying the same. Our first visit back in 2002 Eden and es paradis were the places, big nights every night, Pete tong, Lisa lashes, judge jules, Dave pearce all pulled the crowds in. I remember doing a clockwork orange night at Eden with tall paul and few others djing, you couldn't move in there.
Your right, I really hope these 2 clubs can turn it around again in the future. They deserve better than this as they are 2 of the proper ibiza original clubs.

Its one of the original clubs on the island, and was once one of the big players, its a shame that it no longer pulls the crowds, it really is the most impressive club on the island too in regards to decor, its like a botanical garden! To think sasha, cox, oakenfold etc all used to play here! Hey maybe this is where Carl Cox will go next summer!!

... its like a botanical garden ...
love that "wall of flowers" @ the 1st floor

ps:
aren´t there many plants/trees gone in privilege when those fools transformed the cocoloco-room into that sterile "vista-"club ?

Me and the Mrs went a few years back and it looked spectacular! Just a shame it was completely dead! We are going to Ibiza next week again with another couple who have never been, we are going cream closing but thought it would be cool to show them es paradise but not sure about paying the entrance fee just too admire the decor!
