My first time in the Ministry Of Sound last Friday nite for Epidemik and had a top nite.
Managed to get on the guest list for travelling from Ireland (nice touch that) arrived with a friend before midnight, the DJ in the bar was playing a hip house set 87-1990 some jackin sounds, ventured into the main arena where underground Hardcore was pumping legendary DJ's back in the day Krome & Time played a great set of 91-93 breakbeat and hardcore, the atmosphere was brilliant plenty of smiling faces and no attitudes.
We discovered a smaller room at the back playing a mix match of all sorts nice little place bit of a sweatbox, back ito the bar where Brandon Block came on and played a great set consisteing of old skool house classics along with some new electro house corkers, people definitely underestimate the Blockster his selection of tunage and mixing was spot on.
Back to the main arena were there was a Drum N Bass DJ on his name escapes me but was quite good,up next was Billy Bunter i don't know any other DJ around who is as musically diverse as Billy he can turn his hand to any style of dance music,on this occasion he played a slamming breakbeat set with lots of pianos, one of the sets of the nite.
Back in the bar Slipmatt came on and played an Ibiza classics set (the regulars on here would've no doubt loved it) which was briliant the crowd loved it,as the nite continued things got a little hazy
last set of the nite in the main arena was Nikki Blackmarket who rinsed out a slamming jungle set, the 2 MC's accompanying him where excellent as well usually i don't go in for MC's but these lads were sound.
It was then back to our hotel with some girls we met for some late nite/early morning entertainment all in all i liked the Ministry although the mens toilets leave a lot to be desired and the price of beer is high but used to that anyway living in Dublin.
