End of season summary/thoughts

ere are loads of things better than they used to be, most have been detailed on this thread somewhere

Find them then, if you can't think of them off the top of your head kid.

With over 7 million visitors to the island, it's going to change a bit every year, you either embrace it or simply don't go and post up threads of " how things used to be "

I think you'll find most of us still go,and enloy it,for different reasons. But to not question the direction ibiza is heading in is mindless and simply thick. To embarce whats happening in ibiza,is like trying to embrace a rabid dog.

It will be interesting to see if Space closing and new owners taking over what effect that has on the season and Bossa

No it won't. The kids and 'young adults' spoon fed on commercial shit ,instagram ,snap chat and league tables of the worlds... wait for it,best djs will still queue up single file eagerly waiting to get in and snap it..

I can tell you are still sore from the last time I made you look a divvy on the forum Jose, you need to let that go ....

If you enjoy it that's great ! Then do us all a favour and stop bleating on here about how it's changing and no longer like the good ole days.....it changes every year, it's still a great place, it will survive after Space

Since how many times are you going to ibiza, Kent Kid?
Just a question, to have an idea of what is the "Old days of ibiza" for you.

I will do better than that Jim, I will meet up with you and show you some of my pics when over there in 2017, you can share some of that wine you love....

Made me look a divvy? Maybe you can find that when you're trawling through the forum archives looking for all those post about ibiza 2016 being the greatest year since 1995.....

The only one who bleats on here is you kid. Maybe thats because you feel left out when we're reminiscing about the 'good ol days'.

And of course ibiza will servive after space,as i have alluded to before, space finished years ago... Chin up kid!

My ten pence.. I find it's very Human nature to not like change. It's common to attach yourself to a place you loved so much and have so many good memories from years gone by, only for those times to be less frequent as you get older in which it can leave you feeling like Ibiza is just not 'you' anymore.
I certainly notice Ibiza is different now but for some reason every time I go back (twice a year) it just gets better and better for me. I don't dwell on the fact space is not the same as when the terrace had its roof. I just find another day party to get my groove on, and there has been plenty of those to choose from, you've got to go out and look a bit harder for them of course but they are still there for sure . And of course everything else Ibiza has to offer for us old codgers is there for the taking.
I honestly think the old space building will thrive under the new owners. Might not be great every night but I'll hedge my bets and say there will be a few successful underground nights in the future. And yes I'll imagine myself throwing some shapes in there for years to come.
So I'll have to agree with my nemesis Kent kid on this one!;)

I also have some hope that there will be some good 'underground' nights at the new venue and I wouldn't hesitate to go and check it out.
1 thing I do miss is crazy bora bora days, where it wasnt about the DJ, no one looked towards a DJ booth, everyone standing in any direction and dancing away.
I had an amazing time this year again but the 6.30-7am closing time for amnesia was really annoying, we definitely were not ready to go home at that time. These changes are not for the better but no doubt about it il keep coming back.

We all enjoy it,you don't have to keep saying it,or do you need to convince yourselves its worth the €100s a night you spend in the clubs these days to watch a 'dj' clap and wave his hands around, and look like a complete knob behind a laptop... even carl cox believes you're being ripped off.

No one other than stivi has tried to answer ibizapauls post. Oh,no. Craig had a good crack at it aswell...

Can anyone name one single thing that is better in Ibiza now than before 2000?
Just out of interest really...I am scratching my head...possibly the new dual carriageway from San An to Ibiza town? Other than that I am struggling.

Yeah to be fair I wasn't trying to provoke anyone or cause any arguments on here...I was just interested to see if people could name anything that was better now than maybe 10-15 years ago. It was just that I had been thinking and personally couldn't come up with anything. Stivi, did respond though with some valid points so cheers for that.

At the end of the day I will still always love it, but maybe more for nostalgic reasons rather than being in the moment nowadays. I used to love chilling at Mambo's for example, but now it attracts a lot of tourists and west end beer monsters, like a lot of the clubs do. I suppose that's the problem with anything that becomes popular....people just want to go and have a look, say they've been and post a picture on fb!

it's a shame that ses variades (the sunset strip) is generally so overrun nowadays. I also used to like it a lot, but nowadays I'm there maybe once or twice a year only. the fact it's so busy now made it totally lose its charm - at least that's my view on it.

on the whole discussion, I'm torn about it really. there's two factors I think. one, the human being generally always has a nostalgic disposition. let's be honest, what places do you really think are better nowadays than they used to be when you were 20? (or let's just say a decade or two ago?). do the london people on here think london is better than it used to be for example?

of course though, and that's just a fact and the second factor, ibiza is always changing. I think a lot of people on here reminisce about the golden era (90ies until early 2000s?) and I do hear people's complaints regarding daytime space parties gone, everything getting more commercial and more upmarket. I personally actually only have a problem with that last point - the VIP tendency and everything it brings (ridiculous behavior, ridiculous cars, ridiculous prices) really is a pest. sadly it makes a lot of money though so everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. as for the rest, there are still daytime parties, even open air, the ibiza vibe is still there but it's harder to find, that I'll admit.

i will look for it for Ibz summer 17 & all next ibz trips..

if u dont stick to big names Dj u will find a lot of nice free event in ibiza
i'm fed up to be a mobile purse for years :p

I still enjoy the sunset strip, I take it for what it is and I never have a bad experiance there.

In June it's great, not to busy and everyone is buzzing for the new season, I really love the openings.

You still get some great sets being played, Jason Bye's ClockWork Orange Monday session was awesome, I've not seen Mambo rock like that for a long time.

Growing up all you hear from older people is

They don't make cars like they used to
They don't make bikes like they used to
They don't make planes like they used to
They don't make music like they used to
They don't build houses like they used to

100% I bet when they were growing up the same things were said to them

Maybe we should have just kept civilisation in the stone age
