End of season in Ibiza, begining of season in Brazil

Hey my friends of the board, I know this is an Ibiza forum, but I couldn't help advertising the opening season in Brazil.

Summer is coming in the Southern Hemisphere and tomorrow, in Sao Paulo, there's gonna be a huge party celebrating the 12 th anniversary of the Club Sirena with the following line-up: Benny Benassi, Mar T, Tania Vulcano, Luciano, and local DJ's.

By the end of the month, in Rio, there's gonna be Victor Calderone and in the beginning of November, in Curitiba, Creamfields with Danny Tenaglia, David Guetta, Hernan Cattaneo...

That's just the begining and Summer 2005/2006 only starts in December, and Carnaval will be in the end of February, so there's plenty of time for everyone who's missing Ibiza to give Brazil a try.
 
Definitely down there for the Brazilian summer! Already have my tickets for February-March: Carnaval in Trancoso, then to Olinda, Fernando do Noronha, a day in Brasilia (because I have never been) and five days in Rio! I can't wait.
Next month however I'm headed for Creamfields in Buenos Aires!
 
I'm going to Rio Febrruary 24th for 8 days... I can't wait! I've never been and I hear it's wonderful.
 
You are going for Carnaval! I've never been to Rio for Carnaval - but I hear it is very wild!!! I have been to Rio three times for New Years Eve which is amazing - imagine over 2 million people party on a beach all dressed in white with a firework show to end all firework shows at midnight!
 
I have three friends coming from Europe for New Year's Eve in Rio. They've never been here before, I think they're gonna like it. Carnaval is gonna be from Feb 24 th until March 1 st, so sheeva, be prepared.

I wanted to go to some place like Trancoso for Carnaval, but another friend of mine is still planning on coming to Rio for Carnaval, so I don't know yet.

Tycoon, did I tell you that I lived in Brasilia for a year? Nothing special about it, very dry, and during Carnaval, there's no one there, but if you like steel and concrete, you'll love it.

Fernando de Noronha is an Environmental Preservation island off the coast, I think 1,5 hours flight to the east of the Brazilian coast. There are only 5.000 inhabitants, and not much to do, 5 days there is too much, but you can swim with the turtles and dolphins that are always there, very good for surfing, windsurfing, etc. Olinda is a city colonized by Dutch settlers, led by Mauricio de Nassau, back in the 17 th century, don't miss the restaurant called "Oficina do Sabor": great view from the sea and the city, specialty is shrimp. If you're there for Carnaval, expect no sleep for 5 days.
 
Hey Conrado, I am in Trancoso for Carnaval but I don't know what to expect there. I suppose it is a bit subdued compared to Rio or Salvador. I am not going to be in Olinda for Carnaval, but a few days after and Fernando de Noronha just to chill at this incredible place www.pousadamaravilha.com.br. Looks nice!
I have never been to Brasilia before but only going for one night. I am a big fan of Niemeyer (especially his MAC in Niteroi) so I just want to visit the federal capital. I am not expecting too much and will only be there one night. And certainly won't be there for Carnaval.

What can I expect? I mean, I have a general idea, but I would like a little bit more info! I'm so excited, we booked that week specifically for Carnival... I like to party in new places.
 
Spunky Monkey you are going to love it! I've been to Iguaçu Falls three times already - so I have had my fill of that - but it never ceases to impress. You HAVE to take the small zodiac boat tour of the falls - but expect to get VERY wet. And watch out for the coatis: they look like racoons and are everywhere - cute looking - but with claws and fangs. Other wildlife you can see there are tapirs (big), monkeys and toucans.
Ilha Grande is magnificent. Do you know where you are staying? If you have time, go to Parati - a beautiful colonial town on the mainland.
Do not expect booming nightlife in any of these places - it's more chilling with nature! The new Pacha is set to open not far from Ilha Grande - but in December.

Sheeva, it depends on what kind of party you're looking for, but during Carnaval you can go from samba and parades to parties with lots of people. Brazilians don't plan that much ahead, so you should check the party calendar again in January to know exactly what's there to do in Rio and cities nearby. For general info on Rio, check www.ipanema.com.
 
I heard Pacha bought a club in Rio, but it rumors, just like the Pacha Island that never actually opened...

That's what I know so far. I was checking for some websites with parties, but all info is in portuguese. Don't trust the info on www.ipanema.com concerning parties, they're a little outdated.
 
Hey Conrado... do you know of any cheap ways to get to Brazil from Florida for New Years? I was looking at US airline prices and they're a bit out of the range I want to pay (at least $1000 per person, on top of the $1000 it'll take to get to Florida from here).
 
NYE is complicated and expensive if you try to find a flight directly to Rio or São Paulo. You could try flying from Miami or Orlando to Manaus (in the Amazon) or Fortaleza (NE Brazil). From there, if you want to come to Rio, you could try finding a flight from one of those cities to Rio, it's probably gonna be cheaper.
