Ignore them?
Have a little look now and again?
Look two or three times a day?
Every 5 minutes??

I'm into category 2; log in to emails once every 2 days just to check the old folk are OK and that my flight hasn't changed. A holiday for me is not being tied to a keyboard or phone! Love to ignore them completely.
Remember the days of the early 70's when the only contact with home was (a) a letter arriving a week later (b) a phone call costing a ton, had to be put through by an operator who didn't speek de engrish, and the sound was so faint the reciever could have been on Mars, (c) an emergency broadcast on radio 4 - providing you could get through (b); and (d) BBC World Service, which was only of any use if the world closed.
Instant communication on holiday - necessary evil, total boon or horrible imposition??
