Just a quick note to say hello.

Me and my wife haven't been on holiday for 2 years, and have decided to go over to Ibiza this year as we've never been. We're both mad about our music, but never get out to many clubs. We figure it's time to redress the balance!

I'm gonna be booking a 7 night holiday leaving on 10th September after reading the events guide on this site. My missus is looking forward to Judgement Sunday's closing party, and I can't wait for the Cream party. We also figure we'll hit the Miss Moneypenny closing party, and it wouldn't be right if we didn't go to Manumission during our week.

Now for a couple of questions (I hope you don't mind!);

1. Is it better to save a few quid (about £20 each) and go "allocation on arrival" in San Antonio, or get named accomodation in San Antonio? Either way it would be a 2* self catering apartment in San An.

2. I figure that the risk of going "allocation on arrival" anywhere in the island to save a couple of quid more would be outweighed by the extra costs of taxis and buses if we were far away from the clubs???

3. I've done plenty of reading on tickets, and still can't work out if it's cheaper to buy them on the net in advance, at a ticket office/shop, at a bar, or on the door with a flyer? Sorry if this one has been done to death, I just couldn't find a definitive answer!!!

Thanks alot guys/gals for a great website and forum :D

Steve

I´ve gone allocation on arrival once and my accomdation was the worst ever...Hotel Picadilly or something, location was rubbish...and as for the accomodation...imagine trying to live in a walk in cupboad for a week...horrible!!!! Luckily I had friends over in other accomodation at the same time so I stayed with them...wouldn´t recommend going allocation on arrival but ya never know ya might get lucky...

I went allocation on arrival the last two times, and it was fine, ok accomodation and location...I found it best to buy tickets on the day from whichever bar you get the best deal from, though they are all about the same

Hi Steve, welcome to the board :D

I think for peace of mind, go with named accomodation, if your staying in San An, the only main clubs there are Eden and Es Paradis, so you'll be fine for your Judgement Sunday ;) All other clubs are a cab ride away, if you go to Manumission, you can get a bus from Bar M normally, Cream is at Amnesia (I think?) which Is right near Privilege, so another cab ride away from San An for you, but I dont think they are that expensive.

I think you'll be best to buy tickets out there from Bars etc, if you read Nostrum's review http://www.ibiza-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=23848 here, he's mention about tickets and their prices, so that should help you.

You'll also be out there along with quite a few of us off of here, so see you out there, and enjoy your trip ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome peeple 8) .

I've settled on flights from Humberside and 7 nts SC at Es Calo Playa after reading the reviews on here about my options! Total price is £558 for the both of us flying out on the 10th.

Looks like we'll get our tickets during the stay from a bar/shop I guess whilst we are there.

Lisa, cheers for the link, sounds like someone had a great time out there!

I've been looking at the Disco bus, it appears cheap at about £1 a head and seems regular enough, but does it ever get too full? Are there plenty of taxis around Privilege and Amnesia? I gather these should cost about 15 Euros each way to San Antonio?

Can't wait now :D

whenever I've gone on the disco bus :? its never been a problem, you should get on fine ;) Taxis around privlege are hard to get when everyone spills out around the same time, but not impossible to get, if you're not in a hurry, then dont worry. Hope you both have a wonderful time. 8)

Welcome 8)

That's another two to add to the growing list of spotlighters in Ibiza for those dates!

Well going by the amount of "high post count" board users who are going for the closing parties, we figured it made sense!!!

Just got of the phone and we are now booked. Even knocked the price down a bit to £542, so a few extra Sangrias during sunset for us 8) .

I think the Es Calo Playa appartments are between the Sunset strip and the West End from what I can gather? It appears we should avoid the W.E. as we can't stand the idiot beer-monsters in our home town, so definately don't need them abroad  . Is it as bad as people make out? Is it really like those Ibiza uncovered programs on TV that make you wince at the drunks passing out half naked in the middle of the street?

As there seems to be a few experts on here visiting at the same time as us, would it be possible to exchange mobile numbers with a few of you so we could arrange to meet up and chat about the best ways to enjoy our stay over some drinks?

no the west end isn't as bad as people make out.

i'm a respectable middle aged man and every now and then i take my respecatable middle aged wife to the west end for a night out.

we take as much pleasure people watching there as we do in any other location on the island - we wouldn't go every night - but then again i can't think of a single place here that i would go every night - variety is the spice of life etc etc.

i'll be here at closing party time as well!

Hi Homer and welcome :D

Re the West End, imo it is bad  imagine your worse city centre in England when pubs kick out and multiply it by 100. However some people like it as drinks are much cheaper there than in the big clubs, bars on sunset strip, Ibiza Town etc. But it's easy to avoid the West End if that's your thing.

Out of nosiness where abouts in Humberside are you are your ladieee from, I'm originally from Scunthorpe 8O   ;)

I used to live in Scunthorpe, went to Thomas Sumpter school many moons back.

I now live in Barton town center with my wife (Becky). Like I say, lots of aggro beer-monters!!!!

Where abouts do you live now Barbie? Are you still local?

As for the west end, I think we'll maybe have a wonder down there one night and see what we think. We're going with Escapades because they were the cheapest, so I think they'll probably have a night out down there at some point (even if it's the only organised trip I take them up on).

OMG small world, I am originally from out in the sticks in Crowle but I knew loads of people who went to Thomas Sumpter, did you go to John Leggott College afterwards, I was there (a fair few years ago myself ;) )

I'm London now, left Scunny when I was 18, just go back home now to see family, most of my friends from there have moved on.

I think cos you're going in September the West End is normally quieter and the beer boys have tended to have gone home so it might not be so bad, if just for a few cheap drinks and nothing else.

You'll have a fab time regardless in Ibiza 8)

if i imagine the west end and divide by 100 i get my nursery class at infants school!

what kind of girlie town centres do they have in britain these days?

as my wife says often - there's nowt up wi' san antonio - and who am i to argue?

Dunno, I tend to avoid those kind of establishments in England too, just seen them on TV, people rucking and being sick and the like :? I'm not an expert on either but I would assume that the concentration of people in a much smaller area ie the West End than a larger typical English town centre when pubs kick out, it would be worse in West End, just cos you've got more people in one confined area and people have got the holiday mentality so behave more stupidly, just my opinion.

your opinion appears to be based on several assumptions and tv 'coverage'

so when were you last in the west end?

i was there a fortnight since............and i haven't had one unhappy experience in that area in the last 16 years!

Never, I was just answering question based on what I've heard from other people and most people have come back this year and said it wasn't nice so I was just passing the info on to Homer.

hi barbie respect your opinion but i need to add my 2 pence worht

imo opinion the westend is pretty good theres a kuind of buzz around the bustling streets and the booze runs freely and chaepley imo one of the best way to get the adrenalin pumping round your veins befor you go to one of the big clubs !!

sorry but that just my opinion

Oh, controversy 8O

I guess it sounds a bit like the livelier areas of Magaluf from when I went there a couple of years ago. Should be OK for a cheap(er) night out or 2 then.

Barbie, I left Scunny when I was 13 and moved across to a school in Brigg. From there I returned, but not to Leggott, only to North Linsey (sp?) Tech. college.

I used to work near Crowle at the power station in Keadby, now I'm in Immingham at another station (hence the nick ;) ).

I had a lot of friends over Brigg way when I was at college (I'm going back bout 12 years now tho  )

Well what a small world, I've not come across many other Humberside-ions (sp??) on here before, nice to have you on aboard :D

And re what Frontliners said, very true, some people like the West End, others hate it, if you want to embrace it then it's on your doorstep, if you don't then it's easy to avoid :D
