I was thinking of going to one of the live gigs as El Divino this weekend as I never made it last winter. Has anybody been?

I was wondering:

  • What time do things actually start happening? I hat sitting round in an empty club waiting or, even worse, arriving just after it's all finished.
  • Bar prices are supposed to be cheaper than in the summer. But how much is a mixed drink or a beer?
  • Is there an entrance charge?
  • How can you find out who's playing?
Thanks

entry is free and the only way to find out whats on is checking the central pages of diario de ibiza on fridays. btw, this saturday they have a catwalk show..........

i just noticed that you edited your signature.......... does that mean you dont plan to leave the island for now? ;) :p

It's a shame the Diario isn't all available online. Looking at the Culture page today it would seem that the only things happening this weekend are a jazz jam session and a performance by Dark Elf. (You'd never guess they were a metal band ) Thanks for letting me know that it's a catwalk show tomorrow. I'm not sure whether my friends would be up for that... and that's when we were planning to go.

You also noticed my change of signature. Having bought a house on "Carpenters' Road" towards Sta Eualaria it looks as if I'll be here for the forseeable future. If you want to know more check out my "A Desk in the Sun" column at the end of every month in The Guardian. (Although, annoyingly, it doesn't appear in the international edition  just in the UK and online.)

· a desk in the sun - i checked the october and november columns (only found these two).......... good stuff!! 8)

· dark elf - i know the bassist since school days and the drummer, whos one of the owners of la cabaña. cool guys!!

· diario de ibiza - this week it only mentions dj joan alegret so maybe theres no more live music for now? btw, i only visit the online version when i want to link some article on the forum. i always start the day with a cafe con leche and checking the newspapers to find out whats going on!!

The next column should be in the Guardian tomorrow or Friday. The section it's in is supposed to appear on the last Thursday of the month, but it's been pushed to Friday for "production reasons" whatever those are. There have only been two columns so far as there wasn't one at the end of December as papers are very thin then because there's no advertising.

from this week it will open also on saturday afternoons with their galas juveniles from 6 till 11.30pm featuring iñaki garcia (somny/ex-el divino resident) and toni moore plus guests :!:

erm.......... as i told you on a PM i never said anything about it in the forum, not even in the gossip thread, because i thought it would never happen but last week i spoke with my contact at el divino and according to him its still a possibility as nobody knows yet what will happen with the planned reform on the marina. the politicians want to do it in one way while the autoridad portuaria wants something different (so they might need a few years to sort out their differences  ).......... long time ago one of them proposed to get rid of the port of ibiza nueva which means that el divino would disappear!!

lets remember that the club blues had to close for similar reasons two years ago and they havent demolished the building yet and we are still wondering what will happen with it..........
