overall doing the maths, I think it worked out at about £400 in total from London to Barcelona and back in fuel/tolls but you can save if you cut out the motorways and have more time in France on the slower roads. (also - unleaded super 95 is much cheaper in Spain) In Ibiza itself, driving on all but one day, no tolls anywhere, one fuel stop on the penultimate day I probably didn't need. Not cheap and with passengers it would've been much cheaper but it was all within budget and i spent nothing on clubs - overall, including accommodation and ferries (including emergency replacement ferry), final bill came to £500 for ferries, about £450 for the car and £550 for accommodation, and maybe £200 on food, drink, taxis, inflatable sharks so approx £1700 over two weeks

"all the urgency of a handicapped tortoise"............I like that one:)

You tried to do too much in such a small timescale. That has happened to me before so I always try to keep the hols as open as possible.

The pain of leaving the Island just gets worse each year....:(

Alternative review with no sugar coated sprinkles...8)

Great review. I love driving to Ibiza. We have always tried to convince our friends to do a road trip there, but no joy

thanks for the kind comments - one of the DJs in our group linked it up on FB and that generated some feedback too - all quite surprising really as I didn't think it was all that.

another mate just put these pix up from that week

i missed underground this year too which I'm still kicking myself about.. thoroughly enjoyable read , this is the kind of Ibiza I want to do a bit of every year but I can't grow up, Maybe ease into it gradually over the years.. still haven't visited any places such as Aura etc.. sound pretty damn cool though 8)

...The wrench of leaving Formentera was soon forgotten as I had an interesting appointment with a DJ friend of mine at a bar in the middle of nowhere and somewhere you will only ever find by accident or with the help of a microscale map (not the treasure hunt X i was given) The Monkey Bar on the road from Ibiza to San Joan is the kind of place I absolutely love - run by a very eccentric and well known gent by the name of Vaughan who apparently also has a hand in the Rock Bar in Ibiza and the funky room at Pacha ...

that sucks.

Truman Napolean ?!

my understanding of that story is that the police had the bar under surveillance for a while and busted this guy for dealing in the bar - it doesn't however say if the bar's licence is under threat? the story kind of creeped me out though as I have really fond memories of that place and the idea of it being snooped on by the stasi has really tarnished it for me. There was a lovely vibe in there and for the record, I didn't see any drogas being sold or consumed (beyond the odd discreet bifter) in there on either evening I was there..

Kumharas pretty much got closed for this reason a couple of years ago.

local politics at play again?

reminds me of that scene in Casablanca when vichy stooge Captain Renault is ordered by Major Strasser to close the bar down

Renault to Strasser - but everybody is having such a good time
Strasser (glaring at the defiant band who just played the Marseilleise) - yes, it would seem, too good a time
Renault to Strasser - but on what grounds?
Strasser (eyes gleaming) - find some!
Renault blows whistle - Right, everybody out!
Rick - on what grounds? You can't close me down!
Renault - I'm shocked! SHOCKED! to find er ... GAMBLING has been taking place
croupier to Renault- your winnings Captain
Renault whispers - oh thanks very much
Renault shouts - right, now, everybody out!
