EDM - Predictable?

Wouldn't class handbag as like SHM or Calvin Harris of today. Handbag had the likes of Livin Joy, Tin Tin Out, Grace, La Luna and Kenny Dope. There were some cracking tunes in that genre being played.

Slight understatement there Dirkio! (Bobby's Tenerife 1995/1996 - Come on :lol:)

I'm just off the opinion that if you think it's a good track its a good track, i wouldn't turn my nose up at something because it's a certain genre. That goes for any type of music. I don't think that's healthy.

i don't turn my nose up at genres, i turn my nose up at crap. Which 100% of edm is - unless you can point me to an exception?

Avicii must be the worst, he just puts a beat and occasionally the same typical tune over someone elses song and takes the credit for it.

Music for the masses (as has probably said before). It's what a large number of the mainstream punters want. Not for me but sells singles (records) and tickets I suppose.

There were some cracking tunes in that genre being played. It even then morphed into Hardbag with the likes of Boy George and Tony De Vit. It did maybe have more appeal, but certainly not to the commercial levels of EDM today and the majority of the music being made was decent.

I would honestly rebrand your website. EDM is a bad word.

Always something there to remind me was a cracking Tin Tin Out number/remix from then. I'll need to look out my old mid 90s remix CDs. The Shamen Destination Eschaton was on the same one too I think.

Meanwhile, those Swedes speak....

http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/04/0...-aim-to-shake-the-rafters.html?_r=0&referrer=

"The most important thing is not what we play, but the personality and how we interact with the crowd"

(Gets even better...)

"Underground dance music - in the nicest way possible - it's amateur"

<Insert profanity of choice>

yeah that was ridiculous. they later backtracked and said they meant their early tracks were underground and as they were just learning to produce they considered them amateur. okay. i guess.

they do got a lot of crap for their music so maybe Seb just snapped!

Is edm a genre, i always thought it was bastardised electro house?
