is this a new form of greeting, or just a regional quirk I hadn't, until now, heard?

How many times have I greeted you with 'Easy, me ol' mucker'?

You must have heard it Mark? I use it more often than hello! Not new either - I can remember from early on in secondary school which is sometime ago (best part of 20 years if it was the first year!)
