On Easter Sunday The End will play host to Curtis A Jones performing an exclusive UK show as Canvas returns for an Easter Special. Who is Curtis A Jones? A rebel without a cause (Green Velvet), cheap label whore (Cajmere), or mild-mannered Curtis? Answer: he's all three.
Describing his music as 'tekno punk', there has always been a raw, unpredictable, DIY edge to the stripped-down, house and techno that Velvet and alter ego Cajmere have produced. As Cajmere Jones spawned the first generation of Chicago house music with his label Cajual/Relief, laying down the archetypal funk laden, tweaking vocal driven beats with notable releases from by DJ Sneak, Glenn Underground, Paul Johnson, Gemini, Tim Harper and Boo Williams that now, through the likes of Derrick Carter and the aforementioned DJ Sneak amongst others, have become synonymous with Americas windy city. Relief/Cajual also spawned Jones’ eccentric alter ego Green Velvet. Developing a unique electronic sound with the undertones of his House roots Green Velvet has delivered an astonishing blend of techno and house immortalised by his release ‘La La Land’ with entered the UK top 20 and set the dance charts on fire last year. In the Lounge stylish über breaks fest Melonphunk make their debut at The End with an eclectic fusion of Breaks and Jazz fused electro hip-hop.
As a special treat for all you regulars we have secured late opening – 7am and it get better. As we know that no one has to be in work on Monday, Camden council has been nice enough to extend the bar hours to 3am.
