Isn't too cold NYE in NYC?

Oh yeah, true.

With regards Ibiza, just feel a little - been there, done that over that last 8/9 years.

OK, we really enjoyed hiring the car last year and discovering some ace beaches etc but if we're going to go exploring we may as well try somewhere different.

Will definately go in September though, even for a mad long weekend.

Drew how long a flight is it to Dubai?

Do you think you can just turn up,like a back packer and book a hotel for cheap?

I didnt realise how cheap flights there are 8)

Not sure how long flights are, maybe 6/7 hours?

I can't see why you can't just turn up and find something.

I know it's not the same country, but when we used to go to Cyprus to see g/f's family, we always got hassle because we couldn't provide our accomodation. In other words, best check it out first.

Stay in the Burj al Arab ;) ......it has an underwater restaurant which you can get a submarine down to!! 8O

See above, 7* hotel, may be a little ££££££££££

But then again, what's money for hey?

Drew,

I lived in Dubai for the whole of the 80's. I was very young at the time, and its changed alot, but still have very fond memories of the place.

I'd definitely recommend going. We have friends who go over a few times a year and love it. I can guarantee you will not be bored

If you are as rich as I think you are then I would definately stay in that 7* hotel. My friend went with her parents last year and said it was absolutely amazing 8O Well worth the £ ;)

Never been myself, but my Dad went last year and said it was the most boring place he has ever been to - and he likes just lying on a beach all day :?

Sorry I can't be more constructive. Apparently he stayed in a hotel shaped like a ship where people pay to come and have a look around :?:

What's that all about?

well i'm sure it can be boring...but it always depends on what you make of it...

it's correct, you have to pay if you want to visit the "burj al arab" (which means the arab tower).

drew - search around for the royal mirage, i think you'd like it.

I was surprised when he said he was bored, as he lives in Hong Kong and travels all over the world for work and this is the first and only place I've ever heard him say this about.

I remember those aussies Drew, they worked for Emirates didn't they? I remember Jeremy saying how much they enjoyed living out there.

its my home town ;)

need help ?!!? just let me know and ill answer all ur questions ;)

Drew.. U WILL LOVE DUBAI!! GARANTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED.

and talking about Burj Al Arab;

its the BEST hotel in the world, all-suite hotel and each suite is totaly different from the other!! .. they do give out lots of "special offers" but u have to ask about them to know if they have any.

lots of info regarding the amazing hotel are here  http://www.burj-al-arab.com/

Drew, you wont get bored in Dubai. especially in April when the temperature are bearable. You can even have a decent clubbing night at the peppermint. Big names have played at the peppermint such as deep dish and morillo. on weekends (thurs and fridays 8O ) the club is usually packed with around 4,000 people really into music (many brits and indians).

you can get trips to dubai with 5 nights in a 4star hotel and 1 night in the Buji el Arab for around 1000,- euro including flight, acc etc

not too bad a deal.

friends of ours love dubai and have been there several times, other friends stayed there 2 nights on a stopover from bangkok and were totally disappointed.

girlfriend wants to go there, unfortunately my holidays are already sucked up by thailand next week and ibiza in september - so it may be in 2005
