Drug programmes on TV

OK, there's been a lot of discussion around these programmes this week and last, who honestly now experiences detrimental affects from being a recreational user.

I can honestly say that my memory is shot to pieces, long term not bad but short term I would say has been affected by recreational use....

Anyone else got any physical or mental side affects from this?

Discuss.....

  good post puppylover!!

i have scars in various places from clubbing injuries, my eye sight is shit these days and my short term memory is crap too. i wouldnt get everything done/remember to pay things etc. without my diary!

also when i was 18 ish and hitting it hard i got panic attacks/anxiety but that just taught me not to do so much!!

I'd go with the short-term memory loss. Got to say it does come back if you lay off for a while. I also took waaaay too much acid in the early 90's, and this profoundly changed me, from a happy sociable fun-lover to a nervous introvert. This lasted a good few years after I stopped. I'm only recently (last 12 months or so) feeling anything like. Fun drug, not for me again though. And weed has a similar effect on me too, so I lay off that now.

my memeory is totally f***ed these last 3 years

During my clubbing times I noticed:
- Shakes and nightmares and waking up suddenly
- short memory problems
- at the end of those days, after two or three weekends in a row I was a totally useless at work mainly due to concentration problems.

I experienced many of the same side effectes when I was caning it but I haven't taken drugs on a regular basis now for a couple of years and all those side effects have totally dissapeared.

Yeah lots of injuries myself back in the day and certainly know what you mean - I would be up a creek without a paddle if it werent for my trusty diary/filofax at work !!!! At home we have a calendar and a blackboard on the wall to remind each other of stuff to do.....

Not suffered panic or anxiety attacks myself, but I did on holiday in September think I was having a cardiac arrest during the huge thunderstorm that hit Ibiza whilst indulging too much..... that was scary!!

I dont really notice many effects for me, I dont cain it that much tbh

If I have been to Ibiza, then I do have a disrupted sleep pattern, waking up in the night etc, but that's about it :D

I haver to agree with these! An i'd like to add ive allso got a very weak bladder these days allways pissing don't know if thats the beer though.

luckily all short term. occasional sore mouth in the mornin! occasionally the night after big nights i hav very surreal dreams, sometimes good sometimes scary :? last time i had several short dreams which would start before i was totally asleep :? and wake up after each one. so suppose to shorten it down you could say disturbed sleep patterns! also get a bit twitchy wen goin to sleep but this doesn't bother me so much. on the injuries part would say i hav been lucky. especially seen as after one bad reaction (in ibiza!) i was esscorted out of club. (v embarresed about this! still cant remember it but apparently the bouncers were fine with me but jus said i wasnt in a fit state to be in there!) couldnt walk so had to lie on pavement and kept smacking my head on the floor coz couldnt hold it up. had a little bump on it in the mornin and short term memory loss as couldnt remember most of this happenin! (my friend told me and some kind soul took pictures to remind me of my stupidity!)
not entirely sure i should of shared this little incident! still very  but i promise i hav learnt from this and have been v careful since! :)

Short term memory is quite bad
Bad comedowns after a weekend on them
Bad nightmares after a few days on them
Emotionally more funked :?

and...over the past few days not been feeling too good. Waiting on some tests back from the doctors later on today. Think it's due to caining it too much for the past few years which may have funked my liver.

Finding out at 5 today :?

Cheers mate

Only been doing the dancing beans for about a year, and not too much, but coupled with how much I used to drink on nights out...it doesnt look good :?

Expecting to be told that I cant drink again (trying to leave the drugs bit out of conversation :? )

If you're having a FULL test then drugs bit will be in the conversation, best to lay it all on the line with your doc anyway mate, just incase.

Don't think it was a full test, but I'll see what he says first before I mention anything.

Only ever do a max of 3 a night, hopefully they cant be the cause.

Fingers crossed..I'm just hoping it was the alcohol, could easily give that up

No point in not telling him the full story - just bite the bullet and explain student life has been hell on your physical health - Good Luck and I hope a few tablets and early nights will sort you out!

Cheers,

Yeah that was my plan. He know's my family pretty well to, and although I know anything I say is confidential, I'd rather keep quite unless I really have to.
