Drinks Prices in Clubs

In what has been a difficult year for Ibiza. The big clubs (Amnesia, Space, Privilege etc) have increased their drinks prices by between 20 and 30%. This has brought the price of a bottle of Water in Privilege upto 10 Euros in August! Manumission have managed to pressure Privilege to putting the prices down again - Water now 8 Euros for .5 liter, but it is still a ludicrous price to pay for something that only costs a fer cents. I have spoken to many people who feel they have been fleeced too much and will not return to the island. We need to act now or Ibiza risks some very bad years ahead. Ibiza is quite simply too expensive.

I believe I can help to get this argument accross to the owners of the big 7 clubs, but to do it we need peoples comments good and bad on drinks prices, tipping service etc.

What we need to hear is how the prices on the bar will effect your decission to come back to Ibiza or the big clubs next year. If the clubs believe that alot of people will stop coming they will put their prices down.

Thank you for your help

Dave

PS. I have a close relationship with most of the club owners, so please don't ask who I am or what I do as I can not say.

I'll still go to Ibiza but just not drink anywhere near as much as I would normally do back home.

It seems other people are doing the same and just choosing to make their drinks last a lot longer or not drink at all. In Cocoon, Amnesia the other week, I looked around and saw hardly anyone with drinks. The thing is, if the clubs charged less, more people would buy drinks so they'd make more money than they do now I reckon.

Anyway, in Privilege, you are able to drink the tap water which saved some money.

same tip always concerning water: buy a big bottle of water (i mean these 5liter-bottles). when you're in the club, buy once a bottle of water, then go to your car, drink enough, refill your small bottle and go back inside. never had a problem with that (only for space it doesn't work).

in july we paid 6-8 euro for a 0.3litre-bottle of water. only in privilege we got 0.5litre-bottles for 8 euros (which is still a robbery)

But most of the clubs don't let you come and go like that. :?

if you don't pay for drinks and stuff the next person will - there is always someone who will pay the price.

Anyway. A member from here (who very sadly, doesn't post on here anymore) wrote a succession of letters to the spanish government and eden nightclub about this. The government did nothing. they said they were "checking" the situation out.

And mr eden wrote a very rude, and offensive letter back to him, saying he'll take it to court and stuff (or somet like that) if he continues.

No matter what you do, nothing will happen.

a little bird told me that amnesia increased the price of the water for a while this season but after the complaints of a lot of people they had to rectify. guess what happened next..........

:x :? :x

.......... they increased the price of the alcoholic drinks :!:

he was always into protesting and stuff. suffered badly from S.A.D if im right.

Maybe he's what all the "i'm gonna boycott (insert name here)" gang need right now  Although i think he'd probably make his response a little better and more intelligent than what we've seen mostly up until now

Personally I don't have a problem with the alcohol prices, because the drinks are quite strong, but the water issue is just criminal!

The fact that you cannot drink tap water and you are forced to pay up to 36 euro per litre of water is just  Especially in a climate like that. That is really something where the government should act upon.

To be honest, much as I hate it and much as I know I'm being ripped off, its just not sensible to say you're going to drink less, esp in Ibiza.

If you're in space and you decide to save a bit of cash by drinking half the water you would at home.... then that's what.... 10 hours, 1 bottle an hour, halve it - 1.5l all in.

If you only drank 3 0.5cl bottles at home in that time you'd think about it. I wish there was a way round it, but there isn't. Its just not a good idea to get off your head and then cut down[/] what you're drinking. Seriously.

I just accept it (grudgingly) as a neccessary evil to having the holiday of your life.

Give over - in a week you may save about £50.

i definately drank less when i was out earlier on this month than i did when i was out in june due to the hiking up of prices, i can see more and more people doing this. espcially at space with the pass out we just went out, got plenty of cheap drink, and went back in, cant stand handing over 12-13 euros for a drink even with the large measures.

as for water, its shocking that its so high, but i never really drink water when im in a club so its doesnt have an effect on me, but is is an absolute piss take.

lol i do believe they are my recipts you are showing there!!

this year i found the prices to be just the same as last year

I think drink prices are just becoming rediculous. The place is such a playground for the rich man.

I found Pacha to be the most expensive 30e for 2 JD & coke and El Divino the cheapest 14e for 2 beers.

Water prices have to be the worst. However if you are at manumission buy your water outside the club at the little food kiosk where it only costs 3e.

That is such a defeatist attitude....things can change if enough people care about the issue....

I sense from this board and from talking to people that the dip in numbers next year at the big clubs will start to get the message across...

i hope the prices of drinks do come down, but to be honest i have better and far more important things to do then protest against the prices of drink.

regarding the numbers in clubs, only time will tell, and we'll have to wait and see.
