"Doing the Summer"

yeah when bec saiz do the summer we'd only actually do 2 months, at the most. The plan would be to take a year out. 2 months around Goa etc, 2 months around europe, 2 around india etc etc so we though why not chill in Ibiza for 2 months...

I'd not mind working 2 hours a day for a club, I really enjoy meeting people so flyering would be ideal and I'd imagine easy to get... plus if it's only a few hours a day walking up and down a beach:)

everything still in discussions...as Sara mentioned last we were speaking about getting a morgage, becki moving into marketing and me continuing studying... how things change lol

I think you should do it too if you can 8) . But Babs also has a point in putting the breaks on slightly.

I know Grego had a fantastic time, and im sure there are others like him but I also know of people who came back after 3 weeks after not having found a job and spent all the money they saved up.

One thing that will help im sure is learning spanish. Grego's a fine example ;)

agree ferd but ibiza is like new york, new york "if you can make it there, you'll make it anywhere" . its not a breeze finding a job/accom/friends but then thats all part of the rewards. i don't know you bex so i can't really comment but if you've got brains, bottle and some backbone then its fine.

all the people i know who didn't 'last' in ibiza went there expecting to walk into a cushy job and an aprt above cafe del mar. (although i appreciate there are many that try and don't get lucky).

as for the spanish thing, i hadn't formally learnt spanish when i worked there just picked up the basics, only learned it since 2002. i used to communicate using french to most people and they'd use catalan and we'd have a laugh trying to understand each other. however, i could have easily spent all 3 summers just using english and not had any problems

And how boring and grown up does that last part sound compared to what other possibilities there are for you both ;)

I have a friend travelling around with her partner at the moment, america and fiji, just think of the memories and how much fun you can have together before you come back to get a mortgage and get your head down.

You both seem like you would be able to support each other when the nitty gritty comes as some have mentioned.

Or with a year to plan - get the mortgage, rent the place out and have some else pay it for you while you have the time of your lives.

That's what I'd do, it's so much easier to do what you want to do if you've got the grown-up side of things to fall back on/come back to ;)

Basically, what you are doing now is exsiting, where as travelling, living in not such a cosy envioroment, not knowing where your next meal may come from, now thats living!

I Say..

I dont really want the comitment to be honest though. What if we want to extend our travelling for another few months, what if we spend a month or so in Australia, and love it so much we want to stay for a bit longer? I dont want to have to be restricted to comin home in exactly a year because Ive got tenants and a mortgage to sort out, I want to be freeeeeeee

Besides, thankfully we've saved enough money that we should be able to leave a few grand in the bank for when we get back, so the mortgage hopefully wont have to wait for too long after we get back.

Loads of people rent properties out while they're abroad, Tom is always dealing with people via internet who are travelling/working abroad and who are renting their properties thru his agents and you've got him to do the work for you and get you tenants while you're covering your mortgage ;)

Yep, but he's a lovely one  ;)

He's not your typical stereotypical estate agent (as people on here who knows him will agree with) hence why I think he does so well at it ;)

Stephen and I were having a conversation about buying a house next year and we decided that we'll have to buy one in the area Tom works in because hes the only estate agent we've ever met we'd trust not to rip us off
