Hello, yes I hail from the Wirral, over the water from Liverpool & spent my formative years over the 'pool. All opinion this, no doubt someone will have a different one. lots of good nights on. Chibuku shake shake & circus being the biggest i think (although i now live in manchester so may be corrected here). Both normally take place at the masquerade, a decent good size venue - digweed is playing end of feb. Chibuku do however do all nighters at nation (former home of cream) which is a seriously good venue & I have had many top nights there. Other smaller nights include freeze and aztec, both good quality house & techno. Crowds are usually very good, liverpool is lucky in a way that it has its own scally off shoot of house, called scousehouse (I kid you not), so all the mongos tend to congregate at specially designed mongo nights! also voodoo is a techno night, but really hard techno usually if thats yer thing.

Do not go to wrongdevous. awfull pastiche of a student night. or the 051 or the state. pikey central.

In summary i would recommend picking a chibuku all nighter as it has a variety usually, d&b, house/electro & techno in diff rooms.let me know if you have any other queries:)

Thanks very much. I have an "idea" to go on a few weekends away this year and so far Brighton and Liverpool have come up in conversation so thought I see what everyone on here had to say about L.Pool.

I have never been before so wouldnt mind going somewhere new to be honest, just for a change.

liverpool is class, even for a non-serious clubbing weekend.

Agreed, if you are doing it on the cheap. The Formula one hotel is worth it... £34 a room (and you can get 3 in) and just over the road from the docks. With some good bars.

Great night out, great people.

PS Formula one has a CCTV car park too!

nah
joking aside, a great night is to be had!!! good shopping too, wade smith is a great shop and obviously cricket which is a poor mans flannels!!! ;)

where abouts you from???

@ emma - i'd summarise it as similar to many a large northern city, (manc, leeds, newcastle, nottingham, etc, etc), in that there is good and bad and something for everyone and you're likely to have a good night out in any of those places.

liverpool, however, has the history and the humour!;) :p

I think I will give it a go as I never been before, and weekends away are always good. Its what you make them after all.

Is it all pretty much close together or is it all spread out?

i'm really struggling to remember the names of some of the places i've been there............what was the name of that drug den opposite kirklands? i think it had an irish sounding name.

liverpool has quite a big city centre but in the areas where the bars/clubs are located, there are lots of them together. (e.g. mathew street)

@ stephen

Not sure which place you mean. Although Kirklands is another of the places in liverpool which has been changed, its now a chain pub, whose name escapes me.

Wade smith the 051 (thank god) and the State are all no more folks.

nooo!!

what happened to wade smith?

last time i was up there they had 2 shops, one was a bit smart armani, d&g, hugo boss, vivienne westwood et al and the other more sporty: stone island, cp co, fake london!! :?: 8O
