I don't generally... something must of caught my eye in it... anyway...

flicking through the 'style' sections and there's a page

"key winter trend".... the chunky knit....

And it's got some of the most shocking jumpers and cardigans I have ever seen.... Real Granny knitted them jobbies!!!!

Am I getting old and these are the height of fashion? are my eyes playing tricks on me working nights?

Page 71 if you've got it..... vivienne westwood's is particularly shocking8O !

But the winner is definitely 'ramdane's' 200 quid zip cardigan...jeez!8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O

HaHA, no way! I'd been after one of those types of chunky knit things for months now, I think they're pretty cool.

Admitted it was after I saw someone wear on in an interview, and I thinking how good it looked at that I though it was going ot 'catch on'.

Though it never reallly did in the end, and as it goes, I still havent found on which is quite what I wanted (3/4 buttons, minimal arbitrary motif/pattern, but defo not plain, off-white in colour). It's interesting to see the magazine catch on to it though, I may have to re-start my search for one!

A proper 'fashion' or fad. Seemingly out of nowhere, and I'll bet next season no-one'll be wearing them.

the chunky knit has been "threatening" to break through for a couple of seasons now and it always appears in one form or another, turtle neck, roll neck, ribbed, plain, striped, cable knit, mohair, cashmere blend etc, etc. I notice that the fine knit 2/3 button "cardi" finally made it this winter after a couple of seasons in the shadows. remember a couple of years ago when I worked for Reiss and they did these big thick "starsky" style thick knit 3/4 length cardis with a little tie belt.....loads left in the sales......funnily enough.

dsquared did a whole load for their autumn/winter 2005 season - proper xmas style ones!

can't really see them taking off. You can probably get away with it on a catwalk or at a fashion party if you're incredibly good looking, but for the rest of us you're just going to look like someone gave it to you and you have to wear it...

saying that, never say never. If I found the right one (which probably exists somewhere - likely more of a cardigan one) I'd think about it for a bit.

Could it be there's 'your look' to compliment 'your sound'?

They definitely are of the "nan made it for you" variety!
