DJ's playing at other nights

Does it happen most years or is this year a one off with Sven playing at Enter,Hawtin playing at cocoon, Carl Cox at DC10 etc?

It's rare and a wonderful thing for the scene !! Many epic moments have been denied because of DJ's "loyalty" to their home club.

To see Vath leaving his comfort zone at Amnesia, Steve Lawler going over to Amnesia & Sankeys , Luciano back at Space , Coxy at DC 10 & Hawtin moving to Space has been great.

Hope we can see less politics in the future and more great times.

Hawtin broke the mould when he set up Enter and agreed to do this "mutual exchange" .. now Enter meets Vagabundos and suddenly Coxy is at Circo Loco - and Steve Lawler is playing Amnesia Closing.

The "big-name @ big-club exclusivity" of recent years is being systematically broken down by these guys ... and about time too. Hawtin is definitely the driving force and he's worked miracles - Space must be very happy with the result  .. as I'm sure they are big winners in this with Enter and Revolution both major success stories this year.

This season has most defiantly "broken the mould", but we have seen over the past 2 years, some artists start to break the "exclusivity" thing.

Last year, Seth Troxler while mainly at DC10 played a date at Kehakuma. Carl Craig did We Love, Cocoon, Cadenza etc. Matthias Tanzmann did a Pacha date etc. As Ushuaia arrived on the scene last year, you had double residencies - e.g. Luciano (Ushuaia & Pacha), SHM (Ushuaia & Pacha - last year) and Guetta at those two places this year.

My view is that punters love seeing DJs in other clubs. It in turn drives up numbers (clubs win), and takes a DJ out of their comfort zone.

This year - and its gone insane thanks to the amazing Richie and others. Sven at Space a highlight for me, Coxy at DC10 (sadly I never made it there), we have Luciano at Space this Thursday and am VERY much looking forward to Jamie Jones & Seth Troxler at Pacha with Tong on 21 September.

Winners
The biggest winner is of course us.
I think Space & Ushuaia have done amazingly out of it! ENTER and Coxy's nights have drawn in many DJs that were once elsewhere.

Losers
Am not too sure on this, probably need a more expert view. Are Pacha taking a hit with Luciano and Guetta having double residencies? Not so sure - Cadenza still seems packed out, but have no idea on Guetta's Pacha night numbers as never been near it. I think Cocoon's numbers are only down 5% his season - which is pretty damn good really.

Overall, not sure if I am just getting soft, and not naive enough to think club wars are over, but this whole Sven & Richie, Luciano & Richie at each others nights is built on friendship and respect, and its great to see (soft moment over)

yes, it's a lovely thing and it is really refreshing for many nights and promoters!

agree that hawtin played a major role in this movement and am quite sure we'll see more of this in the future because everyone can see it works!

imagine coxy playing cocoon? villalobos space (kehakuma) terraza for a change? and even in the commercial sector - imagine AvB guest at cream and PvD guest at ASOT in the same week?

things like this could help a lot against staleness.

also more ushuaïa-space combos would be nice.

it is surely a new driving idea which might give a few promoters a good kick and some ideas for the next season.

Now that I would like to see! Also, would love to see more of the DC10 crew do Pacha.

When the likes of Tanzmann, Seth and Jamie play a Pacha/Tong night it does introduce their sound to an audience that may not have all heard it before. I took two people to Matthias Tanzmann at Pacha last year - and as soon as they got to Ibiza this year - they were straight in DC10 to see him! It works....

Matthias Tanzmann was quality at Pacha last year!!

Would love to see more of it happen next year

Would of loved to of seen Cox at DC10!

I emailed Tong & Danny Whittle at Pacha about this a while back! Shame they never got him back at All Gone this year. I am like a broken record here, but I LOVE seeing the DC10 / more underground crew at Pacha - complete opposite environment to the DC10 Terrace - but it just works all the same...

agree that its interesting & envigorating for everyone that djs dont just confine themselves to playing 'their' club.

was lucky timing for me that i manged to see carl cox @ dc10 & luciano b2b with hawtin @ enter....amazing8)8)
