DJs caught cheating on DJ Mag Top 100 Poll

Btw Morbyd, DJ Dan also finished in the top ten last year, and when his name came up on the screens at Fabric everyone went who is that?
He was at the party and played in room two.. he was actually pretty good
Well, either he and Lawrence take a big chunk of the North American vote, or they were using this same marketing firm last year

I've seen Dj Dan play a few times. He used to be playing here all the time it seemed when i was in university .

the sad thing is, someone like christopher lawrence will pull in a huge crowd here, but Carl Cox shows up and you get 200 people!

Noth Americans it seems love their ****ty music like Tiesto, Ferry Corsten and the like.

The list is ridiculous, but seriously, that all people here know. Trance still pulls in a bigger crowd here, which is really sad, because any techno or house night is in a random bar with 17 people on a Wednesday night.

It's weird how musical tastes vary by region, isn't it? There are more techno club nights in Moscow now than you can shake a stick at, but head out to the regions and the kids go crazy for trance (or high-speed cheesy pop remixes).

Last time I went clubbing back in Washington, it was nearly impossible to find a night that wasn't trance/hard house or r&b/hip-hop. That was several years ago, though, so things have likely moved on.

When I was out in Seattle last year, I ended up at a breaks night that was huge on a Thursday.

And look at the crowds guys like Tiesto attract in some part of Europe... it might just be that the house & techno we enjoy is confined to certain areas with a certain demographic...

i think its just because i live in the most dull city on the planet!

seriously, Tiesto was here in August, and he played in some huge convention centre.. people asked me if i was going and i said no, dear god no!!!.. actually i'll be in ibiza instead"

People here associate dance music with Tiesto, Van burren etc...ONLY !!!

and when I tell them i like to dance, they just assume i must like that sort of stuff... because its the only thing they know.

I can't be bothered to go out clubbing here anymore as its just so incredibly boring, bad and backwards

if you build it... they will come...

exactly...

But when Carl cox comes, or Deep dish, or Eric prydz, or Richie hawtin, they put them at a bar on a weekday, where the bar has to shut at 3... so you never get a clubbing experience.

Lots of people here know who Tiesto, van boring etc is... even the ones who think they are clued in to dance music...my friend, who thinks he has the biggest clubbing knowledge had never even heard of Carl Cox or Richie Hawtin..Josh wink, Sven Vath... the list goes on and on..

its pathetic...

find a small dark sweatbox, get everyone aff their nut on mindbending chemicals, forcefeed them quality music, and as the punters gradually start coming along in their droves, book bigger guests

piece of piss

this explains why you didnt come with us to see Marco V and Matt Hardwick at SW4... ;)

in dundee, its a bonus if a club stays open past 2:30, yet it still works

just got to have someone willing to let 100 people in his flat for an afterparty

ask bartonious from this board, him and his 3 cohorts have practically transformed the scene in dundee in 3 years

no this is because I think at SW4, I was completely out of it, completely incoherent and not up for the 'challenge' after going out in ibiza for the previous 10 days!!

I'll do better next year, I promise!! :)

there are after hours here... but the after hours here let even younger kids in... because they are after hours, they dont' sell alcohol,... and because they don't sell alcohol, you get a whole load of teenagers in there.. and the music is just sooooooo bad!

People here are too boring ( except me of course!!)to have after hours 'proper' parties.

thing is, do you never wonder how many folk in your town are probably thinking the same thing to themselves. has anyone ever tried to run underground nights before?

yeah my friends and I sit around and complain how boring it is here!!

its easy to say 'start your own night' but in all honesty... my friends just aren't into it like I am.. they just think I take off to that crazy island in greece or italy or somewhere where people have foam parties and people are naked everywhere ( thanks to the program , Wild on..."...equivalent of ibiza uncovered)

I was at a dinner party a couple of weeks ago everyone sitting around having a nice civilised dinner and someone asked me "so what do you do when you arrive there?.. since you go there all the time, do the people at the restaurants recognise you?"

I said, jokingly ( sort of jokingly ), "No, but all the dealers recognise me!!"

.. and there was just stone-cold dead shocked silence around the table

Operative words here  ;)

(if it's any consolation, I nearly fell out of my chair laughing ;))

i got a 'hello russ' from a man i only ever see once or twice year inside space this summer.

i'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing

Russ has 'videos' on the internet.

(How are you big guy! Long time no speak! Do they not have the internet or phones in Walthamstow?!)
