DJ Diplo makes a mess at the es Vedrà viewpoint with hundreds of people

Same story everywhere now sadly. Having seen firsthand the degradation of historic BCN over the last 10 years I think the most instagrammable spots need to be sealed off by gates or fencing with permit access only.

I'm part of problem, certainly not the rubbish/drone/purposely destroying nature but being there, but I proposed to my wife on the cliff somehwere 13 years ago in May. There were 2/3 cars, we had 100+ yards between us. Basically we were alone on cliff.

I've been back recently, 100's there and people punting cocktails (hypocritically I bought one) can't understand the massive influx. Social media maybe?

I have photos from my partner at the time and I in 2002 in the viewpoint in the middle of July !I They were for 4,5 persons max ! Time has changed!

The same things happen in Barcelona a few years back , ( the bunker view point )
I think that it’s a good thing that they choose to close to the mass , they are many other way to see es vedra but on his own or with a few others people!
We already see enough people in clubs during the night no ? 😅

We used to live on Calderon de la Barca on the walk up there. A neverending stream of expats, tourists or students going up there for a drink or spliff. Occasionally the cops turned up but they didn’t do anything. Now live 5 blocks from Sagrada Familia and the masificación is a joke. The same story everywhere, sadly

🙄

There’s an apt Spanish term for this:

Una tomadura de pelo

(a piss take)

Well you came there for a reason, maybe other people did too :D

With the view of the pirate tower in front of Es Vedra prominently featured in the Baedeker Ibiza guidebook I bought for my very first trip, I never understood why there were so few people there in earlier years :)

The owners of the land must be filthy rich to close access instead of installing a ticket booth.
