was out last night dancing on the stage in g.a.y. (dont ask) when i managed to twist my ankle very badly....

now ankle is black and i cannot stand on it let alone walk.

and i go to ibiza in 48 hours

great start to the bank hol for me!!!

:( :x

OMG you poor thing

As an expert on clubbing injuries  - has it already bruised and has it swollen to 3x it's normal size??

If it's already bruised you may just have twisted it, if it's huge and you cannot walk on it you may have fractured it :?

I did the latter when I fell off a podium one night into a bin :?  and I was going to Homelands and Ibiza soon after so I just ignored it - now my ankle is completely funked and I can't wear heels and even now after a long sesh it looks all deformed :? If it's the former (I've done that lots too   ) - just don't put any weight on it all from now til you go, lots of ice and take Arneca (sp??) cos it reduces bruising.

The sensible side of me says get to Ealing Hospital NOW.........but then my evil twin says just stock up on 'medicines' when you get to Ibiza cos that will get you thru the next week and then you can deal with the consequences when you return ;)

i'm sure there is a pro on here somewhere but ice it for the first 24-48 hours (to stop the swelling) and then use heat after that time to stop the brusing and aid recovery.

i've done this loads of times playing footy. i'd say normally by day 4-5, i could get about ok, by day 6-7 walk normally.

its moderately swollen i can walk but not well
im going to hospital tomorrow if its not any better :(

oh god nightmare:cry: would 2nd what Grego said I've done my ankle a few times playing footy so would definitely keep with the ice to to stop the swelling initially. After I found putting the foot in warm water helps too after a few days! then if need be you might have to invest in an ankle support!

ice and elevate it. Take an anti-inflamatory motrn or meloxicam/mobic if you can get it. Don't use heat and only ice it for 20 minutes at a time.

i am now able to vaguely "walk" but no high heels for me this holiday!:(
flight in 9 hours!!! i wont get dvt will i????

ankle is assorted black/yellow colours - lovely!!!

hopefully it won;t cause too much bother when you are there - have fun

on a positive note - buy a black/yellow outfit for Space and people will think that you are co-ordinating :)

oh god what a nightmare!

Guess you'll just have to take it easy in ibiza and try and dance without stomping your feet :?

fingers crossed it heals before space!

don't use ice on it now as this will literally freeze the recovery of the injured areas.

only use heat.

You sure???? I was told by my Physio NEVER put heat on a strain/sprain/injury as it expands the area and the last thing you want to do is to cause more inflamation of the area - its ice, ice, ice all the way baby..... 8) 8) 8)

it's only NEVER NEVER NEVER in the first 48 hours of the injury.

well that's what i've been told and what's worked for me. i've tired allsorts of methods too and ice for the first 48, then heat is by far the best.
