Dilemma - too many good nights in Leeds this Sat!

Guys, I would like help on deciding which Leeds night to attend this Saturday because I can't choose on my own. I've made a pledge to myself to go out only at the weekend, and only in exceptional circumstances (e.g. someone's birthday) go out on weekdays (not including Fridays). This is so I can dedicate more time to my studies (after all, the second year counts!) Kenny Dope at Gatecrasher Discotheque next Tues is sooooo tempting as well!

Anyway, here are the contenders for Sat:

Sub Focus @ The Bassment: One of my current fave DnB artists playing in a really cool intimate venue. I fancy a bit of junglism as I will be missing Marky and the Valve Soundsystem this evening (due to the above).

Futureshock & Paolo Mojo @ Mission: I'm very keen on Futureshock's sound and have never seen them play before. My mate who's going to this (Ahad, a true prog/tech house nut) is mates with Mojo as Ahad's cousin is housemates with him, so they'll probably have a chat afterwards. However, I might be going to Mission on the Friday night for Lee Cabrera so I'm not sure whether I want to go to the same venue two days ina row.

Michael Gray @ The Space's 6th Birthday: Full Intention are also wicked. Space is a nice venue and I haven't been there for a while. The birthday celebrations should lead to a good atmosphere.

Danny Rampling @ BackToBasics, Rehab: Danny's last set in Leeds before he retires, and I have never seen him before. Atmosphere should be tops. Downsides: I went to Rehab last Sat for Zabiela. The standard long Rehab queues. Slightly higher entry price compared to the others.

Or I could just forget them all and go to the Freshers' Ball as a second year, but then I went last year and much of the lineup is the same.

Also, I've got a choice on the Friday of Roy Ayers, Lee Cabrera and Ashley Beedle!

Your suggestions please.

Thanks, Nick

I'd do Rampling, the old boy is on fire at the mo and he's only playing a limited number of dates before he retires.

go and see danny mate,it wont be long before he hangs up his
earphones. the guy is a dj legend
wish i was in leeds the weekend the choice would be easy...........

my choice out of all those would definately be basics

however, for me its gonna be nathan fake and evil 9 at technique and scratch perverts and justin robertson at dirty disco/orange

We went to see Rampling in the end. He played a four hour set and we all enjoyed it immensely. He played loads of classics, including the wonderful "Where Love Lives" by Alison Limerick. Also pleasantly suprised to hear Dubtribe Sound System's "Do It Now" - an old favourite of mine that I purchased on the basis of hearing it once on the Lovegroove Dance Party!

Some people on the Basics board are complaining that he didn't play the latest upfront electronic bleepy house, but what did they expect? It was one of Danny's last sets, of course he's going to be playing lots of his personal favourites from his many years of DJing. Besides, his main style has always been US house.

As Dizzy said, Junior Vasquez, Scratch Perverts and Nathan Fake & Evil 9 were playing at other venues that night. It's not often that you have so many top gigs on the same night!

Leeds has more nights on than any other city in the uk at the moment except London. 8)

Shame on you for going Glasshouse though, it's shite!

If Rampling wasn't retiring then I'd expect to see a more upfront set but the last couple of times I've seen him after he announced his retirement then he's been bringing out loads of classics which is just what you want to hear, like if Oakie was retiring you'd want him to relive some old Cream sets, if Sasha was retiring you'd want him to relive some old Renaissance sets. I for one hope that his last London date @ Turnmills is a complete LGDP fest :D

Orange meets dirty disco was the best night on that weekend IMO

Place was packed for the Scratch Perverts and Justin Robertson

Went to see Rampling for my birthday. Was a really good choice

Yes, it was club classics, but so what? If you wanted more bleepy, minimalist stuff, why didn't you come upstairs?

Some great nights coming up in leeds. Can't wait for the circo loco party.

if anyones about in leeds this friday its wrong music at northen light. More of an electronica night than your usual club night but should be a blinder. Really looking forwar to it.
