Digital Cameras

I know there was a thread about this not long ago, but I can't find it. :?

I want to get a digital camera in the sales. Something that a simpleton could use and that's not too bulky. Has anyone got any recommendations? Is this one that everyone seems to be doing half price (£129) any good?

Pentax 6.0 Mega Pixel
Digital Camera with
Motion Picture Recording

3 x optical zoom
4 x digital zoom
2" built-in LCD screen
PictBridge enabled

I answered in the X-mas post but here I go:

I would look for a Sony, Canon or Nikon they have the best lenses (the most impotant in a cam). Forget about the digital zoom cos it's totally uselles. The must-have are: at least 4 megapixels, optical zoom and a good lense.

Look at pixmania.com, in spain and france they have the best prices, I supose could be worth in the UK. BTW, you'll have to get a memory card too

Let me know what you find Miss G please, if you don't mind? I bought Anna a Canon Ixus400 for Xmas but it was the last one and when we opened it it had the wrong battery. They didn't have the right battery to replace it so I had to take a refund and am on the hunt again.

Oh yeah, does anyone want to load up the Ipod nano I got her too? I'm pushed for the time here...

a 256 memory card will be enough for you ;)

How much do you want to spend on your cam?

About £100 if I can get away with that.

256 right, thanks. I was going to go to the shops after work, but after a two hour lunch in the pub, I don't know if I can be bothered to brave Oxford St.

memory cards are dirt cheap. can get 1GB SD cards for under £60.

whatever u get, make sure the LCD is at least 2 inches.

The 1gb cards are extremly slow when they are 3/4 full.
I doubt Holly needs 1gb tho

i wouldnt get too big a card because if anything happens to it or you lose it the more pics your going to lose. get a smaller card and transfer them onto your computer more often. just my advice.

That's the one Tom bought me for my birthday last year and when we took it out for the first time it didn't have the right battery either  They ended up getting a replacement from me from their HO but it took weeks

I'm getting Anna a new one at the airport tomorrow now so it'll probably be cheaper (or better one for the same cash)8)

Kinda ruined the present for Xmas Day though.
